Super Blawkhawk Question
« on: May 02, 2004, 01:35:51 PM »
Put a vintage (sort of) SBH on layaway at the local shop.  Layaway for me there means, set it aside, I'll be back for it...no $ down.

44mag, from the 70's, with the wide hammer, bbl about 7" or so.  The blueing is nice...mirror like from back when the blueing was bright.  Bore is in good shape.  Looks like it's been used well but loved.  Price $199

Think that's a good deal or is that pretty common place?  I'm thinking I'll use it as a .44 for a while, then send it off to Clements to have him do an Accurized package on it, 45LC style...might even take a hint from Smayle and get that case coloring.

Grab it . I know in Massachusetts, they are going for a lot more than that on the used gun shelf.

I thought $200 was a fair deal when looking at the gunshows and no one would come down lower than $265.  Most common price is around $250.  I just picked one up for $140 at a shop.  Knocked the blush rust off and she looks good with a little wear.  The shop has had it on layaway for the last year and wanted it gone.  I obliged.  I don't get this lucky often.

In the early '90's, weren't these things $125 guns?

This one was made in '82 with a 7.5" bbl.  Was looking for one with the 5".

This one has the Hogue Monogrip installed.  What is everyone's opinion of this grip versus the others?  I have medium hands and it is a paw full.  A larger buddy of mine loves this grip and wants to swap the Blackhawk for his Redhawk.  Since I am partial to SA, I think that I will keep the black one.

Thanks for the confirmation.  Zcarp in Houston

I recently picked up another Super.  This one is an unconverted old model with the 7.5" barrel.  I paid $200 for this one and it is in great shape.  Fellow was trying to raise money to do something to one of his rifles and called to see if I wanted the pistol.  When he told me the price, I had to take it.  He forced me.
