Rem. Model 7, 300 SAUM...What is this?
« on: May 01, 2004, 08:16:20 PM »
I just purchased a new(2003) Remington Mod. 7 Laminated Thumbhole SS Mag in .300 SAUM. I have to wait for my dies and brass to get here so I bought a box of Rem Premier 150gr  PSPs to get it on paper.
The three shells I fired, (the ejected cases) came out covered with a bluish gray dusty coating
What gives with this

Good question.  I have had this happen once also.  Kind of a smeary gray residue on the ejected brass.  Any ideas guys?

Try dissassembling and cleaning the bolt and around the lugs. I have had Remmies so dirty from the factory that the bolt barely functioned.

you were right! The whole receiver inside to the bore was full of grease, dirt and metal shavings. Its shooting very well now. Thanks!
