Kimber 89BGR 6.5/06
« on: April 25, 2004, 05:43:13 PM »
Howdy,
I came across a Kimber 89BGR in 6.5/06. A chap is willing to trade his Kimber for two of my Ruger 357's plus some $$.
I am familiar and own a couple of the 82 series, but not this one. I do not even have any reloading data for this calibre. I am open to any comments from those who own or have knowledge of this particular rifle, and where I could get loading data.
Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions/comments, etc.

I love the caliber, I have a Ruger 77 that I had rebarreled to it. PLENTY of load data out there, Nosler, Hornady and Hodgdon all have data for it.
Can't comment on that particular rifle, but the cartridge has been one of the most consistantly accurate one for me.

You can do 100gr slugs at about 3400, 120's at 3150, 125 at 3050, so far I haven't played with the 140's enough, but I am getting 2800 with them, and I believe there is plenty more room, if you need it.
Deactivated for behavior in response to a warning from GB.

The Kimber has been rebarreled.  Kimber did NOT chamber the 89 in 6.5-06.  Even the 1990 and 1991 custom shop insert available to dealers does not list caliber choice as an option.  Since the gun is not original, and depending on the grade of wood, price should be no more than 1000-1200.  That having been said, I'd be very interested in acquiring this rifle if the wood is quality.
