Ok I have heard alot of people saying that the 597 is crap with alot of cycling problems and what not. what i want to know is that for you who own 597's what is your experience and is these problems for any 597 or just certain models...like regular blued, stainless, LR, Mag, Hmr, please let me know what is your experiences. I recently ordered a 597 in .22 Lr with a stainless barrel and synthetic stock, so i would like anyones comments. Thanks.

Here is one of the many discussions on rimfirecentral that may help answer your questions. If you search the remington forum there you will find tons of posts.

That said, I have the 597 LSS and it shoots pretty good, I have had to change the trigger hammer.  However, the reciever on it is so soft you can cut it with a knife. I had to use the grooved reciever to mount a scope because the dang thing stripped out as I tried mounting the base screws into the reciever.

Good luck[/url]

I've got a 597 LS in 17 HMR; Matte finished barrel with a laminated stock. I've had no problems with cycling, nor any FTF/FTE. Accuracy is very good too. I'm very pleased with it.  MI VHNTR

I am very unhappy with the one I bought my son.  It is accurate enough but was jamming all the time.  Took it to Remington service center and 5 weeks later get it back - it still jams and now the bold will no longer hold back after the last shot.  Remington won't get my money again on any firearm.  My advice is to get a 10/22.

Remington 597 22lr quality and performance

Hello people!! I have a rem 597 22lr lss,and I'm pretty happy with it overall. It is pretty picky as far as ammo goes;cheap brick ammo is innacurate and unreliable as far as feeding, but with the premium stuff it is a dream!! Like anything you have to experiment with what it likes.when I first got it I took it to the range and fired some cheap rem bulk pack ammo through it,I could not hit the anything with any consistency, and jammed often ,but as soon i put some CCI pistol match and green tag through it WOW!!! Not a failure if a tried.and accuracy like a custom gun, rimfires are weird like that.Since then i put a 3x9 scope on it and got a vq hammer to improve the trigger pull.and I'm having the time of my life with it!!
