Who makes them? Slabside is factory drilled and tapped for (included) Ruger style base.

Thanks for the leads. I like the pricetags alot better than the B-SQUARE! Anybody know which of these can be mounted with the rear sight left in place?? (aside from the Jack Weigand)
Anybody have any experience with these? Any reason to buy one over another?

The powercustom and volguartsen both require removing the rear sight. You can compare the bolt pattern on the weigand to the volquarsten and see the difference. A friend of mine has the powercustom. He had to remove his rear sight (this is a pain in the butt to do). I think the weigand would be your best choice. It looks a little nicer to my eyes too.

Check with Ruger. They are now including a Weaver style base for their newer MK IIs and MK IIIs. They can tell you whether or not the mounting holes in your slabside are compatable with their new Weaver style bases. The Ruger base probably won't cost any more than the B-Square.

I've got a weaver base on my Competition Model and the rear sight does not have to be removed. My favorite gun store ordered it for me and they told me that it actually came from Ruger. The best part was that it was only $19, and it's silver colored to match the gun. I mount a Leupold Gilmore red dot on it.

I just put a Weigand Scope Base on my Ruger MKII. Mine was not drilled and tapped, so I had to have that done. I did however borrow a friends Ruger MKII SlabSide that was factory drilled & tapped so as to get the holes in the same location as the factory.

The only other thing I did was to cut off the scope base flush with the front of the receiver so it does not protrude out over the barrel. In doing so we had to cut a new cross slot for the front ring also.

Other modifications I did to this MKII are : Clark Custom Guns Trigger, Clark Custom Guns Grips, Volquartsen Extended Bolt Stop / Release, and a On Target Guns Blast Shield. In addition I also honed the factory Hammer and Sear to obtain a super crisp trigger pull, which breaks at 2 3/4 pounds.

A buddy put the B-Square on his Ruger MKII at the same time we did mine. The B-Square mount sits a little higher and as such makes it harder (although not impossible) to use the open sights with the scope base attached.

I noticed my factory ruger base is machined around the ejection port whereas the Weigand base hangs out over. You didn't experience any ejection problems with that I assume?

No I haven't experienced any ejection problems at all so far. This surprises me as I have been shooting mostly Winchester BULK X-Pert Hollow Points through my MKII and everyone else tells me this ammo doesn't work well at all in semi autos.

On my buddies MKII with the B-Square Base there is a cut out for the ejection port. However it isn't the same size as the ejection port on the receiver. To remedy this we open up the ejection port on the B-Square Base with a ball end mill so the open matches the opening on the receiver. To my knowledge he has not experienced any ejection problems either with his B-Square Base.
