41 Mag Super Blackhawk Hunter
« on: April 22, 2004, 05:26:40 PM »
Walked into a gun store today and they had a 41 Mag Blackhawk Hunter.  Had been wanting to see one because I was thinking of selling my SRH and getting one.  Nice looking piece, but at $500 I would have to sell my SRH plus put about $100 with it.  I am not sure I can make myself do it, that is one expensive Single Action Gun.

Have one. Waited for my local gun guy to order 2 for me for 5 months. Found one at Guntrader from MN. Had it in 5 days. I really, really, really like mine  . With the SBHH .41 and my new SW 657-5PC .41 I have two very impressive handfulls of .41 caliber SS. Did I say I really, really...... :D
Love those .41s'

I finally went and picked mine up not long ago and still haven't shot it yet.  I taped off the rollmark and took out all of the pins, screws, hammer, base pin, base pin latch, ejector rod, trigger, sights, etc, and plugged up the barrel and chambers and then used my uncle's beadblaster to give the entire gun a soft matte finish.  I polished all of the small parts to make them stand out just a little and put it all back together after polishing the trigger and giving the springs a slight bending.  Looks pretty good but I think I will polish out the small parts just a little more and the trigger is light but there is a small amount of creep.  Need to stone out the top of the trigger just a touch and it should do it.  Will probably wait and see how it does at the range before I purchase another belt mountain base pin though.  I have another that I can try in it to see if it will make any difference at all in accuracy with this one.  Ordering dies and brass for it today.

Saw that Super Blackhawk Hunter 41 again today.  It sure is pretty.  I walked out with a Marlin 1894 in 41 which I had been wanting for a while.  There just is not enough money to go around!

So how much did you have to give for the Marlin?  Let us know how it shoots too.  I've sure been tempted but in 41 they are pretty scarce.

Paid $409 for the Marlin.  I was going to buy one last year when they came out but the first two I looked at were of poor quality.  Rough wood, forend and buttstock did not match, wood was stained almost black and the receivers had a lot of tooling marks with rough actions.  This one I bought looked totally different.  Pretty matched wood and smoother action.  The difference between the guns was unbelievable.  Glad I saved my money for a year.

I will let you know how it does.

The lever and the blackhawk sure would make a good pair. Put it on lay-a-way!

Be Safe,

I already have a pair, habdgun is just not a Ruger.  It is a 10" Contender barrel with a Leupold scope.
