Whats the vote out there on the little 20 cal, is it a duplicate of rounds we already have or does it fill a spot that we could use. the velocity around 4200 and flat trajectory sound veeery interesting ,I think it would be a fun round to shoot , seeing the bullet hit your target is something I have never seen, anyone no if the report is mild or loud ? lets hear the news on this smoker !!!!!

I don't care if it does the same thing as another round, there are thousands of rounds wildcat and standard that all do the same thing. I mean an '06 or a 375 H&H will kill crows and chucks just as dead as a 22-250 if you hit 'em. So who cares if it does the same thing as somebody elses Pet Cartridge.

I want one plain and simple and it will peacefully coexist with the 22-250. Sean

I guess there are alot of rounds out there that are really close in velocity etc. but I did some comparisons of the hornet , 223 , the 17 rem. , 17hmr and it seems that the 204 has a edge on them , 32gr. v-max 4200 fps , only draw back is they say to get up to those speeds you need the powder that they are using at the factory ,which isn't on the market as of yet.Not trying to step on anybodys pet cartridge here , just putting some ideas out there and looking for info . on this new round.I think there getting around 3800 fps. with avail. powders .

I have a friend who has a 20 vartarg, which is pretty close to the .204. He loves it! He has .221 fireballs. 17 rem., and 22-250s and still feels a need for his .20. I swore I had no interest in .17 rem, till I lucked into a custom for free. Almost sold it cheap, also almost traded it off, all before shooting it. That would have been a huge mistake! I love my .17 rem, and I still want a .204 ruger! I also have a 22-250. Do I need anything else? No. But there is a performance difference that applies to different situations.

muslmut what can you and the rest tell me about the vargat 20 what parent case , and velocity are you getting , I think the 20cals. would be alot of fun, have you heard anything negative about the 204 and are there any other good 20 cals. that a guy should consider before buying a 204. what about the tac. 20 any better performance. I did just read that brass for the 204 won't be avail. before 2005 , just factory ammo , but as long as it can be formed from 222 mag cases I guess its not a problem I didn't check to see how much 222 mag brass is.

would really like to hear more about the 204 , how many of you guys have one already, and what is the practical range for woodchucks, and since I mentioned big old tough whistle-pigs hows the performance on them??what about the T/C custom shop , they don't list it on there website ,but I don't think it gets up-dated to often, I wonder when they will be avail. , that could take for ever!! I'm into the 9th week wait on a 22 '' bull 7-30 but I'm working on the stock so the wait doesn't matter - but I am getting itchy to at least see what kind of job they did for me . let the 204 info roll !! and good shooting to all.

All T/C states is that the .204 barrels will be available "Mid Year". So I guess it will be July or later. I was interested at first but feel my .17 Rem is pretty close and has been proven. JMHO

Encore 28 , just curious what velocity and what grain bullet will your rem. 17 do, I'm new to the small cal. stuff , I always tried to make do with a larger cal. that could handle deer and varmits both , but these small calibers just sound like to much fun !!!!

I use the remington 25 grain factory loads-I tried them out when I received the barrel-They shot so good I never looked back. I too was a big caliber guy but am very pleased with the .17 Rem.
The .204 may become the premier varmint caliber BUT then again it may fizzle? :? Like I said I am impressed with the longevity of the .17 Remington!!! Besides there is only approx. 200fps difference between the .17 and .204.
