rickyp,

Right now at this point in time the Savage rifles are proving to be the most accurate out of the box rifles you can buy.  Don't take my or anyone else's word for it, go to the range and see for yourself.  I am waiting for my first Savage bolt action to get here.  I don't believe you will go wrong with a Savage.  Small groups(which you will get with a Savage) and tight lines to you.  Lawdog :D

I have heard of people going to a gun shop, buying a Savage .223, sighting it in, going to competition benchrest shoots....AND WINNING!

Without any work at all done to them.

A friend of mine bought one of the cheapest Savage's there is about 8 years ago, a 110.  He consistantly shoots groups that can be covered with a dime, and he only uses cheap scopes.

Savage has come a long way in the last 10 or 15 years.  Now they are even putting premium triggers in their firearms.

Savage is gaining respect as a gun maker.  They have set their sights on quality.  And so far they have a solid base with the users.   No longer can Savage be considered the 'low end' of quality.

I just ordered me a 10fp-lf2 and it should be here by thursday.

Now I need to come up with loading data for it. I am thinking about 165 gr bullet range.

rickyp,

When Nosler came out with the 165 grain Partition I pretty much quit loading any other grain in any of my .30 calibers.  Everything from .300 Savage to .300 magnums get a diet of 165 grain Partitions.  The only other grain bullet I load in .30 caliber is the 200 grain Partition.  Remember to keep us informed on your rifle.  Small groups and tight lines to you.  Lawdog

Rem Core-Lokt bullets will be a good test for your new Savage.  Core-Lokt's can be a little wild sometimes.  Depending on the rifle.
