superdown: the 356 is a heck of a cartridge. It appears to be ballistically between the best loved 35 caliber lever cartridges out there - I say that because I was looking at one last week and compared the ballistics with those of the 358 and another cartridge (I fergit alla it, CRS ya know) . It will get you just about anything you want to hunt with it, except possibly really big dangerous game. It's a great field cartridge.
As for scopes and mounts - the 94Ae Big Bore comes drilled and tapped on top of the receiver for a center mount scope and their are scope bases made specifically for those rifles. As for scopes - I have recently taken a very large liking to the Bushnell Banner Dawn to Dusk scopes they use on shotguns, as they can withstand the recoil of my Big Bore 444s, and they are some dang fine scopes. That particular model comes in 1.5x-4.5x with a 32 or 38mm lens, and the clarity is incredible. I'm going to get another one just because they are that good. HTH. Mikey
