Input on Adams & Bennet barrels on a Savage 110
« on: April 03, 2004, 02:23:28 AM »
I am thinking of building a bolt action 358. I see that Adams & Bennett offer a 358 barrel for the Savage 110. Has anyone tried one of these barrels? How did it work out? Are they difficult to put on? How did it shoot? What should I expect and are there any tips that would help? Shotgunner

You'll like the round. I have a Remington 700 with a Douglas barrel that I had custom made and it is a great rifle. Mine shoots caliber and sub-caliber size groups at 100 yards with both 158 grain Sierra pistol bullets and Speer 180 grain rifle bullets.

Alway check loads you find on the internet against manuals.

I was leaning towards building a 250-3000, I have a couple of 99s in that caliber. Then I found a 110 in 250. They made a run of them in 250, 300 and 7x57. This one was used and priced right. It has a very nice walnut stock and a Redfield 4 x 12 scope, too much glass in my opinion. It shot groups that were strung 12" vertically. I found that the barrel was in contact with the front sling swivel stud. I pass or two with a Dremel tool and it shoots into an inch. I am going with a Remington for my 358 but will keep an eye out for the right deal on a savage 110, they made some nice feather weights at one time. Shotgunner
