New 2026 cars apparently will be equipped with an automatic shutdown device, should an impaired person be driving it.

Since I use no kind of a substance that can cause impairment, such as illicit drugs, whacky weed or alcohol, I sure cannot see any reason why I should have to pay for such an add-on....or pay for repair or replacement for such a useless device.

Some claim the government can just arbitrarily shut down anyone's car while travelling, but others say "not true"..

In any case it may just be a small step for a "big brother" administration to add this capability..

What say you?  Would this delay your purchase of a 2026 model?

I'll never again buy another vehicle. What I have now will far outlive my driving for the rest of my driving life. Only if it were totaled in a wreck would I need another.
