...Brrrr..cold.
« on: Yesterday at 03:17:37 AM »
A congressman from La Crosse, WI was on TV this morning, saying a nearby town was reporting a -27 F temperature..

It's not that cold here today, but it is apparently headed this way..

Yes cold headed this way, along with a snow storm. Some southern states they say could end up with inches of ice, which means power outages.

It is a bonafide fact that a Native Floridian will freeze to death if the temperature drops below seventy two (72) degrees Fahrenheit. I know, I have done it several times.

We have 2-3 feet of snow, the challenge now, is the windblown snow.  It's causing whiteouts and accidents everywhere..many roads closed.

  ...And dropping temperatures don't help..

I was home for two days to see doctors, and 60 miles West of the Twin Cities last night it hit 26 below.  I did leave the heater in the kitchen on highter than normal and the heater up stairs was at 60.
Where I slept the thermostat was at 58  and I slept like a baby.

Up where I am at now it is supposed to hit 28 below, but the talking weather heads on TV are  having snit-fits about wind chill bs.
My car probably needs new battery, I fixed every thing else related to starting and it  the one year old battery,
runs out power far, far, far too quickly.

I blew snow yesterday when the wind was very brisk, so the snow is now a long ways away.
I have to get new gloves as my fingers always get cold when blowing snow, even when a lot warmer than 10 below.

-11 here this morning. yesterday was almost worse -5 but a blizzard with it. you have to watch those reported lows. lots of time they use wind chill temps to add some drama

Right on Lloyd; so far as I am concerned, that "wind chill" factor only adds confusion.  We watch temperatures just to keep track of how it affects our livstock in barns, vehicles and equipment, and water lines.

Wind chill doesn't affect them so much, since the wind chill simply indicates discomfort felt by a living body exposed to the wind...

...And i think we all know that we will feel iot more when we are out in the wind, since the wind drives the same cold in deeper.

We have 2-3 feet of snow...

Here are two feet, ten little piggys, a couple of ankles, and part of 2 calves outside a Podiatrist's office I imagine.
