Old Angus was a shepherd in the heather covered mountains of Scotland. He had a Border collie that was the best herding dog in the his home county.
That dog was amazing, and dedicated to it's job. That dog Kip, could handle a couple hundred sheep by himself. He could push a flock of 200 sheep through a 2 foot gate in mere minutes, then herd them down along the burn (creek) and move them across an ancient stone bridge, into a fresh pasture.
By his master's commanding whistle, Kip could cut a couple dozen sheep from the fold, and drive trhem neatly into the paddock.
He could do any of dozens of tasks, far better than any other herding dog old Angus ever had..and far better than any other sheep dog around.
However, Kip had one bad habit! Invariably, as he ate he would pass gas which he seemed to have stored up for the occasion, and Nothing Angus tried, helped the situation.
Since the two lived together in a shepherd's hut, it was an irritant to Angus.
So here is Angus' dilemma.. Does he get rid of Kip, or being as Kip outperforms any dog around, does he find some way to cope with this one irritating fault?
Let the lesson apply...
