shrimp chowder for lunch
« on: Yesterday at 05:15:24 AM »
i love clam chowder but if you made it you know it isnt cheap. well my son in law doest like fish or sea food. someone gave him a 2lb bag of tiny shrimp. he knew just where to drop them off! i was thinking on what to do with them so i used my sisters recipe and put in shrimp instead. its actually pretty good but would have been better if i would have doubled the clam juice. but i ended up with about 2 gallons of tasty soup. i love chowder on a cold winter day!!

I like clam chowder without spuds in it. I know I'm crazy, but I don't like any kind of boiled potato in a soup.
the right/left yardstick is a French Revolution-born human measure. It reflects the political spectrum, which is determined by the people’s range of beliefs. Christians, however (and everyone, in fact), should make Truth their yardstick. This inerrant guide doesn’t compromise and build consensus, either; it’s not a politician. It dictates where reality lies. And in a civilization claiming 2+2=5, it’s with the “extremist” who insists it’s 4. For God’s realism so often is man’s radicalism.

couple boys from back in my jungle service days made a mean fish stew. basically any veggies you had some water and tomato juice and canned salmon which they used to send us by the case and a couple beers they were also generous in suppling us. they procured ;) a cast iron pot that held about 3 gallons and they'd cook it over a fire. theyd start about 9pm when we cracked open the beer and let it cook slowly till the next day when we were out of rotation. many times the drinking was still going. now at first i balked because im not much of a veggie guy and my beef stew only has onions taters and carrots but that stuff was amazing. tried to make it once and it wasnt near as good but they had a jar with a top secret mix of spices and thats probably why mine was lacking. they said it was real popular on the NC coastal areas. those boys could do a great wild pigglet roast too. wed kill 2 or three when the opportunity presented itself. by the way the used the same spice mix and some cider vinegar on the shreaded pork

Me too. Although I do like potato soup, from a recipe my mom always made.
