I certainly don't want to see our future leaders go off to Venezuela to die (and kill off Venezuela's future leaders) instead of continuing to mature into leadership positions to replace those of us who are beyond leadership at this time.

At this time, we have absolutely no legal reason to do such a thing.  We actually have no legal standing in blowing boats out of the water in international waters, either.

What SHOULD be happening is to allow those boats to make it into the 3-mile limit, then stop them, to prove intent to deliver, and then sink them, with the occupants aboard.  In that way, there'll be proof that they were fully intending to distribute harmful substances into the U.S., and the message will be clear........do not do this again.

If "diplomatic" discussion with Madura doesn't net some appreciable results, or is rejected at the outset, then we MIGHT have some legal standing at invasion, only AFTER a congress-supported declaration of war.

That's how our system is supposed to work.....let's try to keep it that way.

What I want is to see Venezuelans rise up and take their country back, themselves. I’m sure they’d have plenty of support.

Revolution/rehabilitation, comes from within, whether its men,or countries. Venezuela citizens far outnumber the Maduro army, but obviously lack the willingness to take back their country.

From what I understand, we have taken in about 200,000 Venezuelans and Brazil about 300,000 and Columbia about 100,000.  All the wealthy or middle class have left.  Other countries have taken in Venezuelans.  Now some of them are criminals when Maduro released them from his jails.  Could the CIA train an army from them to take back their country?  Maybe, but who knows.

The Venezuelan people are likened to an abused child. They are fearful and hesitant to back something that may fail, and come back and clap them harder. Their spirit is suppressed, and it will take a spark from their own people to catch patriotic fire. Replacing, or even killing Maduro will only cause the military to fill the gap, and take over.
However, I don't think the United States going ashore to provide that buffer of time and order, so that the Venezuelan people can take over is a good solution either.
