More food grifting

I'm sure everybody has caught on to the old
grift of how meat is frozen with water or a
broth to be able to charge for the weight of
meat that actually is not there.

I've been noticing for quite some time, but not
quite registering in my head about the grift
with canned vegetables.
I guess that earlier my brain was moist enough
to absorb the fact that the can of beans I opened
wasn't actually full. Just about 3/4's full with beans,
the rest with liquid to make up the weight.

Yeah, nothing that I can do about it.
I just finally sunk in that I noticed another way that
there was yet another way that the middleman
was bending me over.

  I have noticed that with canned beans, but for me that is OK, since i value the cooking juice as much as the beans.  I guess it mostly depends upon how you use 6hem..

   At present, as I see it, canned beans are one of our most thrifty food values out there, high protein for a low price.

   Right now, I can buy the Campbell's standard soup can size pork & beans (pork must be invisible) for $1.09. Off brands can come for less..

  I don't stick with Campbell's alone; I will often pick up Bush's or Clarks (Canada), and there is a company (forgot name) in Minnesota, which does a great job on various beans, involving bacon, etc., which I get at Walmart.

   Apparently not your "cup of tea", but I like the juices they are cooked in !

Those particular beans didn't have
any kind of juice per se, but a clear
watery something.
Not sauce like pork n beans or
ranch style or chili beans.
Even the cheapest store brand
chili beans etc. used to be pretty
full up with actual beans.
Cut green beans are another example
of less and less

The ones I buy are full, good and cheap, if they weren’t, I’d get them somewhere else. I don’t have the problem of not having competition for my dollar and I buy the best quality my money can buy… Also, when there are sales on what I like, I buy a bunch for the larder.

  Ugh ! Somehow I missed your photo first time around...Man: that was ugly !  Just a watery substance...what a disappointment! 

   I might have trashed the whole can.  ..And even short filling the can also, only adds insult to injury !

  My eating habits may seem strange to most, but I will make a burrito using Bush's or other quality bean as base, put some slices of pepperoni or other meat on top, sprinkle with shredded cheddar..a bit of BBQ sauce..heat, fold and eat. It has to be simple, since I hate to cook..

  Sometimes I just used beans for a sandwich..with a healthy smear of mayo..  Then there is the thing the folks in England prefer..beans on toast for breakfast..

  It has been said that Queen E, when she was alive, enjoyed this regularly..
