All Hallows Eve
« on: Today at 06:35:39 AM »

I was at home down South for All Hallows Eve for the first time in a very long time.
Now it is an Eve for a Christian day of giving honor to Christians who had gone before and often sacrificed greatly, but so many churches have gatherings, or PRE-gatherings for rug rats and why it exists is not even known by ( in my opinion) the majority of church goers , nowadays.

Being on a Sat. , this year, made it possible for preachers on Sunday to let it be known why it exists, this year, and my home church's new preacher gave a very fine sermon about All Saints Day and why it really exits.

All the pre-Halloween happenings, or organized events for rug rats, to me is BS.   IF the boys and girls want to go out and have a good time on Halloween as I did as a youth, FINE, but let them get out there and walk a few miles to earn their rewards. (Ditto for the lard butt parents that nowadays, sadly ,in too many places, have to escort their children).

I had some where between 20 and 30 kids come to my door (surprisingly, NO teenagers, who are now getting as common as little kids) and they started at sundown and came till 8:10, at which time I was nearly out of candy, so I turned off the light.
Now probably just me, but I used to love to wake up the next day with toilet paper covered trees, and that rarely happens now, although when I was young, the town had a LOT of newer trees, only ten to twenty feet tall on the boulevards, whereas now, it is hard to toilet paper a tree 40-50 feet tall.

When one group of kids, with parents came, I asked the parents - "Are you going to toilet paper my trees?" - they said no - so I said "What wrong with you people?" - the mother instantly replied - "Toilet paper is too expensive now."
We all started laughing; I liked that attitude.
Almost all the kids were very polite and said thank you or have a good evening.

One of the most enjoyable All Hallows Eves in quite a few years, especially as up North it has been almost ten years since we had any one come to the door.
