Thoughts, comments ? I personally think all lawmakers pay should be frozen like some in the military.

I absolutely think congressional pay should stop, but on the other hand, when the government is shut down, so is governmental wasteful spending.

Hmmm, didn't think of it that way, probably the biggest wasteful spending there is!

Not all of it.  Those thieves on the hill still get theirs.

Just my observation.....Roger

Funds being cut for the green energy scam.  That will affect jobs right here locally...but so be it !  Our local agregate  mines did fine before the scam, and they will do OK without it.

Other estimates run higher ..48 billion to $13 billion.  OK; we have a deficit to overcome, and this govt shutdown will  help to dump some dead weight.  let's do it !

Read where a senator or Rep. brought that up in a bill yesterday. Nice gesture, but when you see how many get kickbacks and donations in the same amount of more as their salary, doubt if it will affect any of them much. They'll do what their owner tells them to do.

Perhaps congress and other government employees should go on unemployment..just like anyone else.  Maybe then, they wouldn't be so quick to pull the plug...

From what I heard, the government shutdown is saving $400 billion dollars a day.  Dems do not want the $200 billion cut for ILLEGAL health care and a few other things.  It takes 60 in the senate.  I heard also Sen. Fetterman from PA is voting with the Republicans.  I recently heard two other Dems are switching their votes.  Still need a few more, otherwise, still shut down.  The military, Medicare, Social Security, Air Traffic control, and other law enforcement agencies are not shut down.

Sounds like they have a way to pay for the deficit…

I haven't noticed any effect of the shutdown at my house. I think it would be a good time to fire the "non-essentialls and save even more money. They keep threatening to do that, and to my knowledge, all they've done is threaten.
