Some years ago, I use to pitch in with a
good friend a little over an hour away
that had a decent sized hay meadow
and we had tractors and the implements
to make wire-tied square bales, then
we'd make round bales after he found
a half decent baler that we repaired.
He lost a good bit of it to some heirs
that came in after the fact and declared
that they had been cheated, blah blah.
After that mess, we got rid of our hay
stuff and tractors because they were
sitting.
Later on down the road, i was needing
an ag tractor to run a shredder and other
chores and looked around for an older
something like we'd used before.
I kept running into this "parade ready "
tractors advertised, and finally decided
to go look at a massey not too awful
far away. It was gleaming for sure, and
the man kept repeating " parade ready ".
I asked about what all he'd done as far
as the complete refurbishing he bragged
about. All these seals have been replaced?
re ring and valve job ? Flush and reseal
the hydraulics? New water pump? Etc. etc?
Wahll. . . No says him.
There's nearly new rubber and good tubes
and all the rust sanded away and primed
over really good and a good paint job ( his
opinion- obviously brushed)
So I can't go work this tractor for 8-10
hours pulling a shredder or other implements?

He says buu buu buut but it's parade ready

  Rather like "show" and "pet" quality dogs.  I was into dogs..hunting, showing, competing and breeding. The explanation for show or pet quality is like so....

  Folks who are into simply showing dogs..often do what they call "line breeding"...what we call "inbreeding".   That is breeding closely related dogs.

   The curious thing is, that for instance, in a litter of *, one or two pups happen to catch the classic look and conformation, the rest are sold as "pet quality"; in other words, they won't show well.

  Problem is, that any one of the pups can and may well, come down with the weaknesses inherently involved in "line breeding"..

  Play ity safe...stay away from dogs bred for "show" .

  That same town has a short rail line, and maintains an old steam train with passenger cars, and runs weekend or holiday excursions and events, through the months of favorable weather. (usually May through October)

  A few years ago i suggested a staged, old time train robbery to entertain the passengers..  They took it up and have been doing it ever since, and found it to be a very popular event.  Bandits on horses..robbing the train...

     Here a glimpse of the largest working machine farm show in the U.S.    I will be getting there sooner , rather than later, as time is not on my side but Sharon can no longer walk more than short distances and I may have to go alone, although, for 100 bucks one can rent a golf cart, which is a good idea.

     It is held in Rantoul , Ill. on odd number years one week-end before the modern Farm Progress show, in Decatur, Ill.  which is the largest outdoor new tractor show in the U.S. Next year the modern Farm Progress show in in Boone, Iowa and I think I will go there.
     As much as I would love to take both shows in only a week apart, in Illinois, I/we would have to spend a week in Illinois and that would get a bit spendy, I am sure, as we no longer do tent camping.
