This really got my attention
« on: September 25, 2025, 02:54:13 PM »
This is from Newsmax today.

War Secretary Pete Hegseth has reportedly issued a highly unusual order directing hundreds of the U.S. military's generals and admirals to assemble next week at a Marine Corps base in Virginia — on short notice and without explanation — a move that shocked military leaders.

The directive, sent earlier this week, requires virtually all top commanders worldwide — those holding the rank of brigadier general or higher, or their Navy equivalent, along with their senior enlisted advisers — to attend the meeting at Marine Corps Base Quantico next Tuesday, The Washington Post reported Thursday in an exclusive.

Even commanders in conflict zones and those stationed in Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region are expected to attend. The order does not apply to officers in staff roles.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that Hegseth "will be addressing his senior military leaders early next week" but declined to provide further details, according to the report.

No one interviewed by the Post could recall a defense secretary ever summoning such a large number of top officers in this way.

"People are very concerned," a source told the Post. "They have no idea what it means."

The call for general and flag officers (GOFOs) to meet is as unprecedented as it is alarming, another source told the Post.

"You don't call GOFOs leading their people and the global force into an auditorium outside D.C. and not tell them why," the source said.

A new national defense strategy is also in the works, expected to prioritize homeland defense over competition with China – and some officials believe this shift could be a focus of next week's closed-door meeting, according to the Post.

"Are we taking every general and flag officer out of the Pacific right now?" a U.S. official told the Post. "All of it is weird."

Interesting, but not scary. Unless you're a political leaning general.

This caught my attention also !  This could be for a number of options.  He could be getting ready to fire certain commanders, but then why call all of them home !

More likely, it is some kind of burgeoning emergency, and of course that could be any of a number of budding problems..Taiwan, NATO, Australia or the cartels, just to mention a few.

When I had shift meetings I required all officers to attend 1 meeting, so everything could be covered at once. I can remember department meetings held by shift, and different shifts having a different synopsis of what was talked about.
I was in a paramilitary organization, I'm thinking military meetings discuss different option objectives.

The present military hasn't won a war since 1945, because they haven't been allowed to. Can you imagine being under a command that goes in accepting the loss is part of the objective?

I thought the same thing GT225 !  In the Army, we used to have a small jest when we saw 4-5 troops, standing in a group, just "jawboning"..

We would remind them that, "just one grenade would get every one of you"..  Same it would seem, carries through for a gathering of all our top flag officers !

Wouldn't have to be a nuke...some virulent plague or toxicity could do as well.  That is why I was surprised to see nearly all our top elected leaders at such events as the Charlie kirk memorial..

Minus most Democrats, of course !

  Random notes found on the WAPO;

" Across the services, roughly 800 generals and admirals hold positions of authority, commanding troops around the globe in multiple time zones.

The Washington Post first reported the meeting, which follows a series of abrupt and unexplained personnel decisions by Hegseth that have unsettled military leadership. In May, he ordered a 20 percent cut in four-star generals and admirals, along with a 10 percent reduction in all other flag officers, and directed the National Guard to shed one-fifth of its top positions.

Earlier this year, he fired Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the Navy’s top officer, and General James Slife, the Air Force’s second-ranking leader, without explanation. He also dismissed senior military lawyers and most recently removed the head of a military intelligence agency after his analysis of U.S. strikes in Iran angered Trump."

You know how military officer replacement most often takes place.  They normally don't pull the old commander until the new commander arrive in station !
o  Fox News tonight says, China and Russia are contemplating a move on Taiwan.  If so, this could be a planning session, as well as a "shot across the bow"..to the Russia, Iran, China axis powers.

Perhaps called them in as a demonstration of intent..as well as to keep discussions most secure.

Questions Build Over Top Military Commanders' Meeting
« Reply #9 on: September 27, 2025, 11:17:58 AM »

War Secretary Pete Hegseth’s notice to roughly 800 top military command officers to be at a Marine Corps site in Virginia for a Tuesday meeting is raising questions about the otherwise
shrouded event.

Nothing has been officially released by the War Department or the White House about the intent of bringing all top brass together in one location, which by all accounts has never happened.

Some speculation ties the event to potential downsizing of the military that Hegseth has mentioned previously. The Hill reported that the gathering might focus on short comments from Hegseth on the "warrior ethos" he mentions occasionally.

Hegseth told midshipmen during an early April Naval Academy visit that President Trump laid down the warrior approach to him. “He said to me, 'I need you to restore the warfighting piece of the military. It's gotten distracted by a lot of other things,'" Hegseth recalled.

But no one knows for sure what may happen Tuesday except Hegseth and presumably at least some of his top aides and maybe President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. Both referenced the meeting earlier this week. Trump said he’d be there if needed.

The Democracy Forward Foundation is curious. It has gone so far as to file a Freedom of Information Act request with the government to try to squeeze out some information about the high-level event. The request claims the meeting has been called "without any clear purposes,” and that foundation wants to “shed light on this action."

Already seen a couple of people on the internet throwing out different scenarios. Cutting military spending, creating a front because of what's going on in the ME, Ukraine, Taiwan, and anywhere else theirs conflict. Wait till Tuesday to worry about it.

Trump to Join Pentagon's All-Hands Meeting
« Reply #12 on: September 28, 2025, 11:41:13 AM »
https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/pentagon-department-war/2025/09/28/id/1228189/

President Donald Trump will reportedly attend War Secretary Pete Hegseth's rare and unprecedented all-hands gathering of military leaders Tuesday at Marine Corps Base Quantico.

"We have confirmation from the White House that POTUS is now attending the speech on Tuesday," according to a planning document sent to The Washington Post.

The notice was sent to the Pentagon because of bolstered security measures due to Trump's presence, according to the report.

Hundreds of generals, admirals, and senior enlisted leaders from around the world — all one-star rank and above — have been ordered to attend the Tuesday meeting, described by officials as a speech on "warrior ethos" and military standards. Trump's attendance, confirmed over the weekend, will place the Secret Service in charge of security.

"I'll be there if they want me, but why is that such a big deal?" Trump said in the Oval Office this week, downplaying the concern of generals questioning the purpose of the all-hands call. "The fact that we're getting along with the generals and admirals?"

"Remember, I'm the president of peace. It's good to get along. You act like this is a bad thing. Isn't it nice that people are coming from all over the world to be with us?"

The White House has not commented on Trump's upcoming appearance. Newsmax reached out to the White House press office for comment, but had not heard back as of publication.

The all-hands call was a move that shocked military leaders, the Post reported Thursday.

President Donald Trump urged NATO to take a more assertive role in Ukraine's defense by using weapons to push back Russian advances directly on the front lines.

He suggested the U.S. would provide arms to NATO members — who would then deploy them to Ukraine — rather than shipping them directly from U.S. stockpiles.

This shift marks a departure from his prior posture of limited direct intervention, and reflects a broader recalibration of U.S. involvement in the war.

Those Trump statements in a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy came one day after newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz vowed at his first U.N. Security Council meeting this week that the U.S. is resolute in helping defend "every inch" of NATO territory.

My take on the security concerns is: there'll be enough fire power (land &air) there that if a nat farts they'll know what he had for dinner.

The fact that someone let it slip that all these generals and flag officers were going to meet in Quantico was part of the plan. Now we know somebody has loose lips.  We also know that loose lips sink ships. If they have to know the agenda and the contents of the meeting before they get on a plane to go to that meeting they might as well just go to the press room in the white house and have a giant across the world Zoom meeting in front of God and everybody. Then expose those who are wearing pink underwear but it is more effective if you call out the losers in front of all the winners. I know I know...Punish bad behavior in private and congratulate good behavior in public
