European pro football teams.
« on: August 27, 2025, 04:55:21 AM »
While to most Europeans, football is what we call soccer, there are many who have discovered and enjoy American style football.

They enjoy it so much, that there are European football leagues, patterned after the NFL. My late cousin, has a grandson who plays quarterback for the Vienna (Austria)  Vikings.

Ben has played quarterback for the team for a couple years now. Here's a look at European pro football   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5LJBjpVBQol

The Euro teams have in some cases, borrowed names from the NFL..

To explore European American football teams, consider the following notable leagues and teams:

NFL Europe - Former league featuring teams like the Amsterdam Admirals and Frankfurt Galaxy.
European League of Football (ELF) - Current league with teams such as the Hamburg Sea Devils and Berlin Thunder.
British American Football League (BAFL) - Includes teams like the London Warriors and Manchester Titans.
Italian Football League (IFL) - Features teams such as the Milano Seamen and Parma Panthers.
German Football League (GFL) - Notable teams include the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns and Dresden Monarchs.
Austrian Football League (AFL) - Home to teams like the Vienna Vikings and Graz Giants

I would much rather they have Euro Baseball teams, although this is Very interesting.

With Cricket, the Brits will never have a baseball league, and , this is fact, waay back in the Eightes, Cricket games were shown on the then, new, cable channel and were interesting, with Much more action than Soccer.

Soccer could take a hit as in football, when players fall down after contact, it IS NOT wieny BS with players faking injury.

In that picture, the player looks like he is wearing a Minnesota Vikings uniform from Bud Grant's days. 8)

Yes; I think some try to emulate NFL teams.  For example. the Parma Panthers, the Ancona Dolphins and the Graz Giants..

Of course, I think many of those players are young guys who didn't quite make it in the NFL, and are still honing their skills for another whack at the NFL.
