Where do you bank and why?
« on: August 14, 2025, 01:55:26 AM »
As in all the services we use where money is made off of us I want to at least try to do business with companies that have the interest of conservative Americans instead of against. Any help is truly appreciated.

Probably best I mention where I DON'T bank..  I don't bank with the really big ones, the names we heard during the big "reset" when Obama was in charge.

I deal with a bank that has it's roots in an office a couple counties away..but has 3-4 branches, one about 10 miles from me.

I believe the smaller bank gives more personal service...after all, should we expect "personal" service from the really big, international guys?

That being said, I have little special banking expertise...so take it for what an old "country boy's" knowledge is worth..

locally owned bank for 50 years. my check card through them is a visa though. like ironglow like the "Cheers" song "where evrybody knows my name!" i can apply for a loan with a phone call and go in and 5 minutes later walk out a single question with no down payment and unless no collateral other than a title or deed.

Got a little bad, but universal news for you.  "They" don't give a rat's backside about you and your financial situation.  They are in it to generate a profit for themselves or their investors, just like my local/regional credit union.  Big enough that I hold a Visa charge and debit card with them, and they give a decent return on my retirement CD account.

I go in my  bank and generally speak with Lori or Jan, and as I do business, if I want to add to, withdraw or whatever, I don't fill out the usual slips of paper, I just tell those girls what I want..and they just humor "that funny old man with the handlebar moustache".

I know most everybody there by name , and see them in the grocery, gas station etc.  If that bank ever displeases me (after about 55 years) I will switch to a country bank about 4 miles south of me.

Pretty much the same a IG but the people I knew for years are gone; with the newer ones I can still walk in and they will look up my account without me having o say a word and BS a bit.

If you want to borrow money, for business, many of the larger banks will not bother with any thing under 6 figures and small local banks are disappearing.

Local bank for me to. Pretty sure 5 locations is it. Last time I did business with a ''major'' bank, the car dealership set the loan up thru Huntington banks. Made just about every payment at the drive thru, tellers in side looked like they'd rather start an argument with you than greet you and smile when you were handing them money. Never go in one again.

As said, I don’t want to do business with those who have unamerican views. Could not care less about what they think of me or my “ financial situation “ I don’t want to give them one red cent if they are not like me, hence the question about where to put MY money. I think you miss the point (again). Also, this applies to all businesses for me if at all possible…

not to start a fight but thats all but impossible today. maybe 10 years from now if make America great succeeds. but to insist on a bank thats all about conservative values and then spending your money at walmart, target on ebay or amazon or buying an imported car or truck or car part or even a gun that isnt a 100% American made by a conservative company kind of looks hypocritical and there is very little today you can buy that is. like you i at least try to spend my money and bank with companies that share my values but would be lying if i didnt say money talks. i think if there was even a chinese owned bank that gave zero interest credit cards, zero interest loans and twice the rate on savings accounts every swinging d*** here would be at their door tomorrow. now some would deny it till their dying breath but would probably be first in line tommarow. luckily no one has offered me that because i hate failing tests!!

As I said “ if possible “ I do avoid mallwart, target, lowes etc and if I absolutely have to, will make small purchases there. They sure don’t make much off of me.

I bank at a local bank that is located in a small community. I like the people that work there. Always have been very courteous and polite.

Speaking of Lowes. I don't go there. Their lumber is garbage. I go to a local lumber yard where you dont have to search through 10 2xs to find one good piece of lumber. Yes a bit more expensive at the local lumber yard, but their lumber is excellent compared to Lowes, or Home Depot.
