  Ah..stone skipping.... aka stone skimming..   But can you compete with a champion?  World stone skipping championships are held each year on Easland Island, Scotland..

  Here is a sample champion....  I don't know if he got his title in Scotland or at some local contest.

  According to the original in Scotland, the stones chosen must pass through a 3' hole in a plywood square.  most choose a thin, smooth, edges rounded stone..and wets the stone before throwing. Here is the winner in the Scottish 2024 runoff..guess he hit the far wall of the old slate mine.

Who would have thought as kids a little game of skipping stones across a lake or pond would turn into a sport where there are professionals, and armatures?  When we were kids doing this. I think in our own minds we were professionals.

   Sure...and when I was about 9, I thought I may be a professional cowboy...time I turned 11, I was sure I was a professional soldier...only one of them ever panned out ! 

  As kids....we were "pros' at whatever we aspired to..
