American Thinker

More like The Advertisement. Can’t read anything without ads blocking the page continually. You spend more time trying to get past ads then reading…

huh?

It’s a site and it’s loaded with ads, wouldn’t be so bad if they weren’t blocking the article’s, then when your done I at least have to close the site and then go back to it if I want to read another article and fight the ads.

Try Ad Blocker Plus. It's free and it's safe. I use it on my computer.

https://adblockplus.org/

Some sites will not let you use their site if you use it, it is that effective. I can't read FOX news cuz I refuse to let t hem show me ads.

I’m ok with ads up to a point, when they block what I’m reading and then throw a whole page up where I can’t get back to the site without leaving and coming back. That’s ridiculous… I’ll check out the ad blocker.

There is a movie, starring Bruce Willis I think, where the good guys send the bad guy an "e-bomb"  link that explodes the bad guy's laptop into hundreds / thousands(?) of full page displaying ad sites.  The only way to plow through the e-bomb was clostng each ad site one by one, an effective (according to Hollywood), methodical, and meaingful way in which to slow the bad guys down.

I thought that was a pretty good internet trick.  IDK where to locate such a link, but the thought that they could be out there is interesting.

I don't think I have an add blocker, but I hardly ever see any. Like this time logging on, I've seen none.

Some of the worst are camel a’s face. Gross, asking if I’ll vote for her. I don’t think whoever does this really wants my answer… Those ads are mostly on wnd.

WND.com is a Christian news source. Can’t say the same for their advertisers or some articles from other sources they think readers may find interesting. They have some good writers.

American thinker has gotten worse if that’s possible, apparently it is and I’m done with it. While I like reading the articles I can’t stand navigating past all the advertisement road blocks.

I read through Lucianne.com every morning, (a mixture of sites), but it’s like playing a video game just closing pop-up ads from all directions. Really annoying.

Got an ad blocker on my computer, works pretty good. If I see a headline that looks worth reading, go to it and immediately it says I can't unless I drop my ad blocker, X out and can usually find it on a news sight that I don't have to subscribe or allow ads.

I like the American Thinker, but don't click into it regularly, so I tried it this morning. Sure it bout 1/2 ads, but they stay on the right hand side, so I can still navigate
   the site.

For some reason or other, for the last 3-4 months, whenever I post here on GBO, I get large ads interspersed with the lines I write or post. Same happens when I read posts here...a couple large, obstructive ads.  I don't think anybody else sees them, so I just work around them.

When I tuned to American Thinker, i found an interesting article, outlining how Tucker Carlson (and Candace?) have gone woke, and skipped over to the Hamas/Hesbola side.

If you use the default look here I think there might be ONE but only ONE ad choice ad at the bottom of the page. I believe that's what Matt told me. I use the brown theme and see zero ads anywhere on page here.

He put it there to hopefully help pay the cost of the site but I don't think he is getting any income from it. He has shifted the cost over to me for the last few months. He promised to start paying it again next year. If he does not I'm going to tell him to shut it down. I just don't have the income to keep paying for this site myself. If we had more interest and posts it might be worth while but no more than it is used I personally think it's time to let it die.

I'm not complaining, but I will try using the brown theme...providing I can dig it up !  :D ;D

American Thinker has changed the layout and look of their website. Not sure yet if I like it better.

Now I run an add blocker but I have next to zero problems with adds.
If  you use the temp. free ones and they tell you time has run out, ignore it, they , at least mine, keep on ticking.

I’m tempted to run a ad blocker just wondering, is there any down side to it?

I have had none, and I have used several brands, but check online to see what others say.
I.E. put - what is best ad blocker - in a search engine.  Measure twice and cut once.

Only potential down side is some sites just will not let you use it if you don't let them show ads. I use Ad Blocker Plus, Stop All Ads and Malware Bytes all three and see no ads period. Also Malware Bytes stops all kinds of bad stuff sites try to put on your computer.
