...Been off line 3-4 days now..
« on: May 14, 2025, 05:08:08 PM »
No, not dead yet...but my laptop is messed up.  Needed my son to help square it away...but he's been so busy, I was reluctant to ask.  So tonight, he fixed it, but it still doesn't seem right..still prints 2-3 of letter e instead of one...or won't print it at all..etc.

   Many corrections, before posting..

Often won't let me on line etc, so I guess I just plug on until it fails entirely.

mine was just replaced because it wasnt a supported operating system or some such bs. it did all kinds of weird things. just blackmail to make me replace a perfectly good 10 year old laptop. i dont know how they get away with that thievery!  can you imagine the uproar if every car on the road went dead in 10 years and you were forced to buy a new one!!!

Sometimes I think that is much of their game, Lloyd...  I understand they already do that with cell phones..

Put my PC in a dumpster about 15 years. 10 years ago the laptop followed the PC. Tablets are cheaper, and will pretty much do the same thing with very few problems.

cant stand a touch screen or a mouse pad. need a keyboard and on my lap top i disable the mouse pad and use a real mouse. i detest doing the internet even more on a tiny phone screen. my fat fingers that dont articulate like they should after years of boxing about makes it impossible to hit only one letter at a time. if i send a text i use the voice key

Phat phingers, small keyboards, Software Mfg. moving the goal posts, App makers "free download" so their software can pitch the real cost per month of their App (akin to Auto Dealer's "Puppy Love" letting you take a new car home over the weekend).  It all stinks to us old guys.  We don't like being baited...

I don't think it would take much for them to shut down landlines too.

Get yourself a refurbished Chromebook off eBay for a backup. I started buying them for my Great Grandkids to do home work on, and casual computing. I have two myself that I use to do some of my radio and reloading stuff on, and to surf the web, when the sorry Microsoft machine acts up. They are simple to use, and you can get them with touch screen, or like I use. (I'm a mouser lol!) I buy from a great seller for around 50  bucks and he guarantees them. Most of them have an 11.5 '' screen.
