I bought one of these little critters a couple of weeks ago and can't believe the fun I am having with it.  Time was when every barn in the midwest (nearly) had one of the originals leaning against the door jam to dispatch varmints.  I remember them full of paint and rust.  I saw this one in a gunshop and bought it without doing any research just because of the way it made me feel.

This is one of the modern version, and was on the clearance rack because it wasn't selling.  I bought it, and have shot nothing else since.  I have a number of rimfires, and am sure that I will use the more sophisticated ones again soon, but for now taking a walk in the woods with this gun is like spending time with an old friend.

I got the .22 long rifle version, and don't plan to get any others.  I suppose if I see another in .22 mag and it is calling out to me like this on it may go home with me as well.  I have a mental picture of teaching future grandchildren to shoot using this little rifle.  Must be getting sappy in my middle years.

Anyone else admit to having one of these?  How is it working out for you?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Those little suckers are hard to find around where I live!
I have been looking around for one and the only
one I have found was at a gun show in carrollton ga,
(More like an indoor flea-market).
The fella wanted close to $300.00 for it
This was me ->  :-D   I literally laughed!!!
I would not have paid that for it if it would have been
GOLD PLATED with erotic engravings  on it!!!!

Owned one for a while and really enjoyed it.  I was going to use it to teach the Grandaughter to shoot but found she could not safely cock and uncock the hammer.  I very reluctantly sold it and bought one of the single shot bolt action Marlins and that works very well for her.  I always want a Stevens Favorite as I really like single shots and lever rifles.  But I also have "old eyes" and really need a scope to shoot well.  Pity, as I really enjoyed the gun also.  Maybe I'll pick up another someday and keep it just for fun!  They seem easy to find at "Jay's", our local sporting goods store.  44 Man
