People are too comfortable and apathetic
right now, and are afraid of losing their toys
and enable and make excuses for sin and
criminal behavior.
When the lights and smartphones stop working,
and a decent meal becomes a rare thing,
that's when people will start to realize that
they can't lose themselves in their vices.
My parents suffered through the Great
Depression, and one of my friend's parents
was from a communist controlled country
where you had to stand in line to buy the
basics of living, that is if you had the money
to pay and whatever place didn't run out
of whatever you were standing in line for
before you could advance to the front of
the line.
Shortages and scarcities and poverty and
starvation are real things, and it can absolutely
happen right here or anywhere else
Despotic bureaucrats will run things in the
