7.62x25mm Bolt Gun...
« on: March 22, 2004, 04:17:05 AM »
Dang, but I wish someone would come up with a 7.62x25mm bolt gun.  Maybe something the size of a Destroyer Carbine, er something like that.

Failing that, one could always go the route of those chamber inserts - get a half dozen for a 30 caliber bore and shoot the 7.62x25 through those.  Problem would be accuracy though - an awful lot of free travel before the bullet connects with the rifling.

7.62x39mm bores are too large, as the bullets for the pistol round are .308 diameter.  Rebarrel something  in a 32-20 caliber, or maybe a 32 Mag - but most of those are levers.  Any ideas fellas?????  Mikey.

I've thought of that too.

It will probably show up in a Contender soon.  That would be the easiest way to get into one.  A new England Handi-rifle would be fun too.

Robert - I like the idea of a handi-rifle in that caliber.  Thanks.  Mikey.

I suggested a Contender barrel in 7.62x25mm a couple of months ago in the T/C Handguns forum.  It didn't receive a huge response, but a few people thought it was a cool idea.  I'd think 10" and 18" or 21" barrels would be great.

J.D. Jones has what he calls the 7.62 and 7.63 Whisper

These are the 30 Luger, and 30 Mauser cartridges with heavy bullets.  I remember a show that I watched when I was a kid....this guy would go around inventing things that other people had already invented, and name it something else.  I wonder if that show was about J.D?

I think it would make a great carbine, I hate to admit it...the easiest way to get one would be from J.D.

S. Sumner - nice idea, thanks.  Same bore diameter and might need only a rechambering (and set back the bbl a bit).  Hmmmmmmm.  I wonder how they would feed through the magazines - I can always find out, I got a carbine for my seester.  With the longer magazine, I might be able to duplicate the 7.62 Whisper loads.  Hmmmmmmm.  Sounds like fun.  Thanks.  Mikey.
