Do any of you shoot these rifles? What do you think of them. I have been looking at the 550 in 375 H&H mag. they seem to be fairly priced for a heavy rifle. Any info would be helpfull. Thanks Duke45

CZ 550

They are a little bit heavy (which is good for an Express Rifle), but they are very good.  I rate them above USRAC, Remington, Tikka and and Rugers.  The actions are floated and the triggers are adjustable.  I have a 550 in 6.5 X 55 and love it.  It is also very accurate. 8)

CZ 550

I have one additional comment: The CZ 550 with the European Monte Carlo stock is not as forgiving on the recoil, as is the American Stocked CZ 550 (which is now produced by CZ).  I think the CZ would be a nice rifle in the heavier magnum rifles due to their construction and weight. 8)

The American version 550 is a nice rifle.  Worth every penny but the older Hog Back stock version is a hazard.  It was well known for stock splitting at the back of the action, the one I fired split on the 7th. shot and it was a .375 H&H.  While the CZ is a good rifle it doesn't come up to the offerings from Ruger or Winchester.  Remington isn't a CRF so shouldn't even be considered in the big bore calibers when dangerous game is thrown in the mix.  When I was deciding which .416 Rigby to get, CZ or Ruger, I settled on Ruger.  Reasons were;

1] better stock fit and design - wider across the butt plate area
2] American made with a better track record as far as customer service goes
3] balance of the rifle - I prefer the way the Ruger felt when I mounted it to my shoulder

For me it always boils down to what kind of backing the company behind the rifle gives.  In this case I had heard to many bad reports on CZ customer service so I went with Ruger.  Better Customer Service.  Lawdog

I had a full stock version in .308.  The rings provided were high, due to the bolt throw I suspect.....  It made for a poor cheek weld.  The gun was not particularly accurate.  I sold it. Jimmyp

GOOD RIFLE THE "CZ"

I got the American 6.5X55 and it's a good rifle and shoots great.  My son used it last season and killed two deer with one shot each.  I'm not a fan of CRF, but it's a keeper.  It's not really heavy it just seems that way because of all the light weights out there.  I believe it will last through several life spans.  Good Luck.

Thanks everyone . I looked at the cz550 american in 375 H&H and it seems to be well made. I have heard both ways about there service. The dealer I trade with gave me a price of 650 for a new 550 witch i don,t think is to bad.I have heard both good and bad about thier being acurate. I guess i have heard the same about all the mafgs lately. Thanks Duke45

Lawdog, the Ruger 375 H & you purchased, was that the one currently listed for $1,800?  How much do these rifles generally go for through CA dealers?  The reviews I have read are very good for this rifle. 8)

Rustbucket,

Yeah, I bought two Ruger M77 Mark II Magnums, .375 H&H and .416 Rugby.  Got a great discount(added 15% off) by getting both at the same time.  I restocked the .375 for my wife so I guess it is really her rifle now.  I already had a pre-64 Win. M70 in .375 H&H that is part of a set(.300 and .375 H&H magnums) I inherited from a friend.  The only thing I did, other than the restock for the wife, was to replace the factory triggers with adjustable ones from Timney.  Shop around, prices can and do vary greatly from dealer to dealer.  The MSRP is not a set price, but just a guideline.  I paid way less even without the discount.  Lawdog
