7mm-08 Loads
« on: November 23, 2002, 12:25:56 PM »
I've owned two factory 15" Encore barrels in 7-08 and both shot the Remington factory 140 grain load as well as any hand load I could work up. Gave over 2600 fps also. Also try the Hornady Custom and Light Mag loads. They do well in my 7-08 rifles but I never tried either in the Encore.

my 15" 7-08 shoots the 120gr rem hp fair but not great. good enough i wouldn't mind to take them deer hunting in a pinch. i got a couple groups around 1 1/2" at 100. some were around 3". i recommend reloading for it. my very first load of 40gr of  H4895 and 120gr nosler bt shot 5 shots less than 1 1/2" at 100. very comfortable to shoot. 2.5 grains under max but still plenty of power. i also made my longest shot with a handgun with this load. 250 yards on a button buck. thats not a lie or bragging either for that matter. may i also recommend a 2x7 or 3x12 burris handgun scope. mines a 3x12 and is awesome. :D

I use the 120 gr. Nosler BT with the H4895 also. Works well with the 15" barrel or 16.5" barrel. Haven't taken any game with it yet, but watched a deer dropped in it's tracks with the same combination. Good luck! :-)
