1892 Euro Classic 38/40
« on: March 13, 2004, 09:47:53 AM »
I have been offered a NEW in the box Winchester 1892 marked EURO CLASSIC. Comes with a factory letter ( in unopened envelope ) for $1000
I have never heard of one of these, has anyone on this board? It was made for the European market, I was told and very limited production. Worth the money?
 Thanks

I'm not too sure about overseas patten rights but this might be a Euro Classic Rip-Off. Winchester/Browning/Miroku Industries(aka Japanese) which are all three the same, could have made one of these for across the pond but it isn't your garden variety Winchester on Grandfather's wall. One thousand dollars and a few hundred more could get you an original, which could have roamed the plains of Wyoming or the Badlands of South Dakota. I doubt that the guards of Buckingham Palace used one so the Euro Classic business is nonsence if you ask me. Save your money!!!

This is made by USRA ( Winchester ) in a limited run ( less than 50 ), supposedly for the European market. If it is in fact such a limited edition would it be worth picking up?

Mike :  The only ones in the blue book are a 1973 called the yellow boy (sold in europe only ) 100% on it is abt. $1150 issue price was $150.00 and there were 4,903 manu.   And then in 1978 there was a issue one called one of one thousand  250 were manu. issue price was $5,000 100% value now is $7,995.   This model was not advertised in the USA.  Then in 1986 they came out with the second series european 1 of 1,000, in which 150 were manu. issue price was $6,000 today at 100% it would be $6,500.   I would do a little more research if it was me to varify exactly what is for sale as these are the only three I can locate in any of my books, good luck in your research.  :D    JIM

I got the price talked down to $900  This comes with a letter of authenticity from Winchester and is brand new in its box along with a cover sleave. I think I will take a chance on it. It looks real nice!

Shucks, if it's one of those 1 of 1000 which sold for $5000 or $6000 and is NIB it sounds like you stepped in something and came up smelling like a rose!  Hope that's what it is...

This is a new production piece that was made last year or so. Don't think it will go for $5000 but it should go up value as there were only 50 made!

They are in the Shotgun News offered by CDNN for $799 Dlr.  Only 50 made in 38-40 cal. and 30 in 32-20 cal. they claim.Serial No's10001-10050.So not a bad price.   Horsefeathers.
