New Year’s Eve.
« on: December 29, 2022, 07:13:03 AM »
We are going to stay home, its crazy enough out there as it is.  Our cousin is going over to Lubbock to a party, bars, drunks, cops, and a handful of other things we don't need. We still have an unopened bottle of Crown Royal, we might dip into that in a Pepsi with ice. Popcorn and a movie. The Day the Earth stood still, the night it stood still is more like it. ::)

PS: i say Pepsi because i hate Coke. Picky on the whisky also.

Never was big on celebrating New Years Eve.
Went to at most 3 parties in my life; when I was in college celebrated at the bar but most years just stayed home and watch Guy Lombardo's New Years Eve TV show.

Still miss it and it stopped a long time ago.

I will be in bed no later than 10. I may make a little birdshot rain although I usually save that for the 4th.

I don't use alcohol and am too old to party. Dunno what time I'll be in bed but will be staying home and doing nothing special.

I have been staying home on New Years eve for at least the last 30 years. Might be even 40 years. When younger we had kids, and when I got older there was no desire to go to any new years party. New years day is just another day to me. Since they have ruined the new years eve tv shows, I'll most likely be in bed by 10:00 also.

The only celebration I'll have will
be afterwards if everything and myself
make it without getting shot.
Buncha buncha idiots around here that
love to be buzzed and do magazine
dumps as a "celebration "
I've had 2 different vehicles with bullet
dents from airborne projectiles returning
to earth,  and I've found one embedded
in the roof some years ago
I'm thinking it's still damp enough outside
to deter any stray fires from wayward fireworks.
I usually find several of the sticks from the
larger bottle rocket type fireworks, and occasionally
Some of the cardboard tubes with the plastic
fins. There'll be debris from the people shooting
fireworks left in the middle of the streets
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

Used to go to church for a new Years party (games and such), but they quit that a few years ago. I think the last time we went we got a motel room near the church because it's a 45-50 mile drive home. Ended spending most of the night at Kaiser with my father-in-law. Dr wanted me to get him to cooperate. Had to tell him the man never cooperated with anyone in his life. And, my FIL was busy telling me how the nitro the Drs. were giving him was going to let him punch like Joe Lewis. Not a night to repeat.

even in my younger partying days i stayed home on new years. Bars were just to packed and every cop in the area was out partroling. One of my best buddies had a bar and what he did was close it down the night before and had a party for his friends and workers. Much more sane then new years and the booze was free. I havent even stepped foot in bar in over 10 years other then one bar out in the sticks we stop at a couple times because they have the best dammed burger ive ever ate. But its ate with a 7up. I might sit sometime that day with a small glass of bourbon neat. But its one and done anymore for me.

Same here! No one would want me at a party anyway. No Booze, no Smokes, no fun for over 35 years.

^^^ DITTO THAT^^^  I'll likely go to bed at 2400 hours or a bit later, but that is my usual time schedule. Never could see the New Year's celebrations as anything more than a excuse to act silly.
After seeing 86 New Year's eves come and go, they become a rather mundane event.

I don't intend to do anything. Just light a fire and cuddle with Mary on the couch. Retire at about 10 PM (2200) after a movie. She likes ( Splash) a comedy about a Mermaid she likes.

Sounds like a winner Phalanx... I wish I could do the same with my Barbara..but I will again, in the reasonably near
future.... and we will never to part again..

To night we go to bed early. My daughter took my wife to the Dr., he prescribed some meds, ordered an X-ray, and said go home and rest. Since we have both been sick, so I think that is whats going to happen this evening.
