New toy!
« on: March 12, 2004, 01:36:02 PM »
After getting back the tax refund, and having a relative actually pay back a loan, I went out and bought a new toy!  A Model 92FS Compact just cried out to be bought, so it went home with me.

Went out to the range, and even though it was a balmy 16 degrees with the snow blowing horizontally, it gobbled up 100 rounds of FMJ without a complaint.  But, Oi!  the stiff magazine springs!  Or it could've been the frostbite....

Being a revolver fan, this is my first semi-auto, but so far, I'm loving it.

I like this gun too! Is yours a 9mm? Last time I checked it was only made in 9mm, I was hoping it would be made in 40.

Yep, it's in 9mm.  I don't think they make them in .40, but could be wrong.  It being my first semi-auto, I've come to some conclusions:

1) Time to buy a progressive reloader;
2) Cleaning it is much easier than my revolvers;
3) Those writers who harp on the "long double action trigger pull" haven't tried them;
4) Time to buy a progressive reloader.

It's a hoot.

The 96 F/S is basically the same pistol as the 92 F/S, just chambered for the .40 S&W.  I had both at one time (traded in the 92 for a new rifle) and the parts would interchange,  I never tried firing them with parts switched.

Ummm, no, I think we're talking about the Compact.  Those in .40, too?

I'll drop by Beretta's site and see if they are making the compact in .40 yet.

Ooops, I didn't see the compact. I was of course talking about the standard.

8) Beretta used to make the 96 in compact, they discontinued the gun  some time ago. They changed it for the new 92 and 96 Vertec. (9mm and .40 cal). the design in my opinion is better than the classic 92 and 96. They put a straight grip and cut down the barrel to be flush with the slide and added an accessory rail on the bottom. :eek: . Also they are coming out with a SINGLE ACTION version that is called the 92 STEEL 1 and if i'm not mistaken it will come also in .40 cal. The design is a basic 92 but they changed the trigger, used the hammer of the ELITE II and putted the safety on the frame instead of the slide. I haven't seen one yet , i got to check the web page but i got it on the new beretta catalog for dealers at my job.......I'll keep everyone posted...If you guys need more info. let me know so the i can mail you some photos of it....That's all for now................Almost forgot , during the week i will post some pics. of my CX4 Storm with all the rails and acc. installed already.....
