So . . . What exactly happened. . ?
« on: May 16, 2022, 04:21:13 PM »
When I was young, IIRC the
majority of new mothers breast
fed their babies, and/or mixed
up evaporated milk and other
stuff to make "formula ", in addition
to boiling bottles and using and
washing cloth diapers used
with the big pins.
So exactly what happened in the
generations since I was born
that we can no longer do these
things like were done 60 years ago?
I've been chewed out already a
couple of times for asking that
very thing.
Me " Why can't women nurse in 2022 ?"
Other people " Some women can't.  . "
Me " Why not  ?"
Other people " THEY JUST CAN'T  !  !  ! "

Well that doesn't tell me doodley
scoot besides being a silly answer.

Anybody know anything better  ?

This is awkward. It made me, and my mother sick I'm told. But whole raw cows milk, and a little Karo syrup worked just fine.
Its kinda like dog food. My first dog never tasted dog food, he ate scraps. Nowadays everyone is spoiled to "easy".

There was a talk on Public Radio about noon here on that topic. I'll admit I didn't pay much attention because neither of my wives had trouble. However, it is my understanding that when I was born, during WWII, that working mothers usually bottle fed. Had to do with being on the job so the guys could fight. Seems to me society could be a bit more compassionate and less judgemental about how mothers feed and care for their children.

Not being a mother I am not going to get frazzled about it and it's the mothers business, not mine. I can see where modern diapers are much less trouble than the cloth diapers we used with our kids and probably just as cheap when all things are considered. Some mothers can't produce enough or complete enough milk to feed their baby. Both of ours made it just fine on raw milk that I personally took away from the cow as did our daughters. On the other hand our grand daughter-in-law breast fed both of hers.

Common sense. Rare ain't it.

For the few babies that can't tolerate cows milk, goat milk usually works just fine.

The other part of that formula was powdered rice. If you can find it these days.

The other part of that formula was powdered rice. If you can find it anymore. I’m sure someone still makes it.
Ebay sells something like it.

Maybe it's even though "men" can now be pregnant, but now they can't lactate  :o:-X

I just don’t believe it.
Does a tran have a uterus??
If so, where did it come from??
But I guess the left believes that B.S.

Some mothers are just unable to produce milk, my daughter had to be on formula.  At that time there was only one that worked for her and it was special order from the drugstore.  Once we found he she began to gain weight and thrive.

Nowadays, most mothers can't put up with the hassle of breast feeding, they are too interested in their own convenience and not the health and security of their baby.

This evening, the woman on the
" news " says that with "formula crisis
that a lot of babies are going to starve
to death. . . "
How? I still don't understand why
babies can't be fed cow's milk or
goat's milk or sheep's milk or canned
milk or dried milk powder or something
other than manufactured formula
powder. Barring that, why can't another
lactating woman nurse a baby other than
their own?

I can't see someone letting a baby
" starve to death " without trying every
possible option if manufactured formula
mix is not available. Even if they power
barf it right back up or it turns their
bowels to a hot brown fountain.

The fda approved formula has been around for around 75 years? Baby’s starved before then...

Had to go to walmart unfortunately.
There's some things that the few
neighborhood stores don't have.
JFG I detoured by the baby stuff.
Formula display 3/4 + full up, so
no real shortage that I saw.
Stockman refilling the cabinet and the
distilled water display as I went by.
Seen the border jumper women on
the news in line to get their free ( to them)
allotment of formula mix, and saw a
report about the thousands of babies
that will be starving to death if Washington
doesn't take action immediately.
I'm still not understanding what
happened in the last generation or
two to change infants so drastically
as to be totally dependent on manufactured
formula mix and not be able to take
cows or goats milk or breast milk
or something else. It makes no sense
Maybe several dozen or maybe even
a hundred nation wide. Thousands or
tens of thousands? NFW . That's pure bull
