I find it really odd that there is little to no conversation about the outdoors here anymore - you know hunting, fishing and such - the stuff this website was designed after...  Might be able to draw more members if the name is something more relevant to the popular topics here like what's for supper.  I'm not good at creating that kind of stuff so I won't even try but it might be something to consider.

id like more guns hunting and shooting too. But leave the name. What i do like about this place is i can express my opinions holding nothing back or getting chastised by some woke owner or moderator because my opinions are a bit course or dont agree with his. Thats rare on the internet today and i thank bill and matt for allowing it. Ya its a bit political but the world today is just that. Add to that most of the posts center around our constitutional rights and or freedom. So in fact the second amendment even though its rarely argued here because we are so like minded in that aspect is in fact being fought for here.

Glad you got a good one. I tried two of the LR version and both were total jam-o-matics. They refunded my money instead of sending me a third one.

I am very pleased so far, and the accuracy seems very good too.

  If you want more outdoors/shooting  material, post some.  Whenever I post on guns or knives, I often get replies..but not always..  that's the breaks.. we take it or leave it..

   I appreciate GBO, because unlike many sites, the 1st amendment seems to have a home here.  We can peak, relatively freely here even whan Matt or Bill may not completely agree with us..the mark of real patriots.

  Sure, they limit filthy talk, but i don't care to indulge in that anyway..  For me , leave it as it is, name & all, since it ius one place where we can vent...and then face the jabs form our contemporaries here..

There's other sites I've posted on
and was chastised by the mods for
mentioning that covid came from
china, or chastised by the mods for
saying that border jumpers affected
the nation in a bad way and didn't
do anything positive for the USA,
and were just here for the milk and honey.
Been chastised for mentioning the
pedophiles that visited the pervert
island resort, and the ones that hold office.
Other places I've visited or been a
member of are very or have become
very gear oriented as far as buying new
expensive stuff and " unboxing " and
trading in new barely used serviceable
items that have never had a fair use in
the field to prove up utility or make a
judgment on poor construction etc.
I don't get judged here about antler size
or have to wade through posts featuring
one gamecam photo after another.
I've seen more than a few deer photos
here and on the old GB of buck deer that
would be illegal in some of the antler
restriction counties I've hunted in, but
IMO they were good deer that the hunter
should rightfully be proud of

I haven't bought a new gun in a long time and just don't seem to get out to shoot much anymore and stopped hunting years ago. About all I can do these days is ride around in my John Deere Gator.

I did get a lot of mowing done today, in fact I got pretty much the whole property mowed and trimmed. Matt and his buddy Eddy came over and did it. Even I can handle the mowing and trimming that way.

yup i got a repremand and points against me just for saying that most gun crime is black on black on a forum some here frequent. They said racist posts are allowed. Nothing racist, it just a cold hard fact. If you knew me personaly youd know im one of the least prejudiced people youd ever meet. One of my best life long friends is a black guy i met in the service. Only people i have prejudice against are liberal socialist baby killing sobs! As to what nationality or color you are or what church you go to i could care less. That is as long as you leave mine alone. Heck i dont even blame the border crashers. I'm not banging on this site, I also like that you can speak your mind and not get booted, just not much outdoor related anymore.  I got booted from a site about 6 months ago because I questioned the vaccine safety and effectiveness, and it was an outdoor forum...  But like a lot of forums, it's run by the left leaning.  lake-link.com is the site and they have the most boring topics you could imagine because no controversy is allowed at all that the mods don't like, so I wasn't upset about it at all.

Yep, me too. I hunt smarter. Draggin em out, not so much... butt, after bleeding, cussing and near heart attack sweating, me and the family eat well which is very satisfying.

I take a rifle to work every morning. See deer and turkey most everyday.  I'm now old, and an "opportunist". Come deer season, the bucks need to stay outta range when I'm feedin cattle. I've also got a tractor with a front-end loader, and good sharp pocket knife.
I don't butcher deer anymore, but I know a guy that does.

  I have butchered so dam many deer, moose, bear, caribou, sheep and about everything else, you wouldn't believe it.  A few years ago, I started taking them in, and let someone else do all the work.

  I don't drag them out any longer either, I've done enough of that too!  I just haul them out.

im far more of a meat hunter then a sport hunter. Always have been. Ive killed more deer then most. Butchered every single one of them. Theres no way im paying so kid at the butcher shop a 100 bucks to process a deer that might give me 30lbs of meat and you really (at least around here) cant be sure its even your own deer meat there giving back to you. When the day comes i cant butcher them i will stop shooting them. Dragging them out can be a challenge anymore with this wore out body but ive got a partner to help when crop damage shooting and a deer cart helps immensely. At camp ive got young strong nephews that will do it for me. This spring was the first time in 15 years I actually ran out of venison. My sister gave me a reprieve and it was a deer her nephew shot in ohio and they boned it all out put it in a garbage bag and tossed it in the freezer and she didnt want to bother thawing it and trimming and packaging it. So at least i have some meat in the freezer.

I use a deer cart. This year whilst taking a “shortcut” avoiding standing water about 8” deep I found myself in the middle of a thicket with 2 deer on my cart, by the time I made it through I was bleedin like a stuck hog and sweating like rosie odd donnel in church...

When I started hunting as a kid I took deer in to be processed because I liked the sausage and it was pretty cheap back then.  I got a bad batch once, really bad burger which I found lead fragments in although I killed mine with a bow... After that I learned to do my own and found that I get a much better product at the end.  Gravitated away from sausage as I think its a waste of venison.  When I want good sausage I buy it from a few quality butchers in the area for not much more than if I supplied the meat!
