Suburban coyotes

Looks like at least one person
has been attacked and hospitalized
from a coyote attack here in
town. No, the animal wasn't startled
or had young it was defending or
any of the reasons they always
give. It specifically went after a
human and attacked. I always
hear " they're no danger - they always
run away and only eat mice and
vegetation.  . . "
Supposedly, wildlife officials have
located and killed the very one
that attacked the person. The "news "
had a home video of a coyote
chasing a kid on his way to school.
Wasn't too long ago that a few bobcats
were roaming around the suburbs
and frolicking in backyards on
the trampolines and eating out of
kitty's dish, etc. etc.


Sorry,  you can't have wild predator
species roaming around and sit
on your immaculate lawn and
marvel at the wildlife as you sip
your wine

There's been enough yote sightings around here that we watch the backyard while the dogs are out.
Luckily, they prefer to pee or poop quickly and get back inside.

  We don't see a great deal of coyotes in back yards around here.   Don't know if it is the abundant food supply, or if it is something to do  with the wolf being crossed in..

  Most coyote hunting around here is by hunters using dogs to trail them and force them past waiting hunters.
  The two groups around here ues Walker hounds.

Ranger It might have had rabies. We had a problem with large owls once, they would swoop down and take a small family pet in the yard. But they wont try it through a tree canopy.

I think all the coyotes have starved to death around here. I used to hear them almost every day, either just after sundown or early in the morning. I haven't heard a coyote song for months now.

Here either and an absence of bunny’s. Drought must be getting them, and snakes are on the move. Killed one yesterday.

"News" people just said they've had
to kill 3 aggressive coyotes so far.
Should have been killing them all along.
No rabies that I've heard of so far.
I believe if that were so, they would have
been reporting it. In the past, when
coons and skunks and such were
excessively rabid, it's always been reported.
Need to put the varmints down and
stop all the cutesy cuddly BS and such.
I have at least one neighbor that keeps
pans of food out for the stray animals
24/7.   That's the main reason I've
caught so many possums and skunks
here where there shouldn't be any

Where I live we have the curly haired variety, very dark although the pasty white ones are really heinous and unsavory...

Seen two coyotes this week. One had a fox closely following it. Thought that odd. Grabbed the A5 but they saw movement and took off.

Talked to a neighbor. He said female coyotes in heat will lure male dogs and foxes back to the den for dinner.

Two neighbors have German Shepard’s without collars. Almost shot one.

They've already reported that a good
many in the troubled neighborhood were
putting out food for the animals roaming
the neighborhood and made an announcement
to discourage the practice because of
drawing predators and rodents and insects.
Kinda like the lady across the way does
supposedly for the cats, but draws possums
and skunks and helps feed the huge roaches
that inhabit the section 8's nearby

Need to dispatch them and quit the hand
wringing

Heh, that's why state and national parks have signs that says don't feed the animals.
We do the animals a great disservice by putting out food.
Wild animals need to remain wild until you put a bullet in them to put on the table.

In November of 1990, I was sitting on a hillside in Missouri watching a valley floor for deer and almost at my feet was a trail that looked unused.
As I sat a coyote came trotting by about 10 yards in front of me, and about 2 minutes later here came another one.
They were beautiful with long gray hair on the backs and white underneath.
So, I cocked my Hawken, set the front trigger, and got ready for the next one, but he never came.
I did get a fork horn later that morning with the longest deer kill of my career, he was 50 yards away.

I usually try to pop whatever pests
wander by whenever I'm armed and
can shoot.  A few times I've been
caught flatfooted and didn't have
enough time for a shot, but I'll
try one regardless of if I'm deer
hunting or whatever.  I figure if
I've lost an opportunity at a deer
that it's one less hazard for any
future fawns
