Putin made a speech last summer claiming Ukraine was part of Russia. Yes they have the same basic heritage. However during most of the middle ages, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Polan were under one kingdom, and waged war on Russia a few times. Russia, Prussia, and Austria-Hungary over a few hundred years finally broke this kingdom up and occupied the territory. Anyway, Putin thought because they were part of the USSR and the Russian Empire, he could waltz right in and take it without firing a shot. Ukraine has been becoming more westernized with more freedoms and money. The people did not want to be under Russia again. I saw where Ukraine blew up a retreating Russian truck and it was filled with washing machines they had stolen. Putin is just another thug in a long line of Russian thugs. They need a better system of government and break up the big oligarth controlled companies of Russia to make it more capitalist. The same thing needs to happen here in the US. Facebook, Google, Apple and Microsoft should be broken up. Back in the 1980's the government though about breaking up Microsoft into two companies, the operating system company and the software company. Apple could be broken up into the phone company and the computer company. Google and Facebook own several smaller companies, like snapchat, instagram, etc. These companies have too much liberal control and influence. Twitter, also, should be regulated to allow free speech.
