We’re planting about 1/3 of the ranch in Pines.

Since the cows have been sold. Planting pines make a good way to keep our green belt tax status and a source of income at the maturity of the pines.

Me I’m more interested in the bedding area it will produce for the deer and quail.

What is the cycle on pine harvest down there, about 30 years?

Hopefully you're selling the carbon
credits.  JMHO- I have quite a few
pines, and they don't hold the deer
as much once they get fairly tall and
the brushy effect is past. The oaks
and other hardwoods will hold them
forever plus 2 days, probably because
of the mast as much as anything.
Put some persimmons and honeysuckle
down if you want to grow some
deer magnets.
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

We have a lot of hardwoods on the ranch. They start thinning at about 10 years. But that’s not really what this is about. The green belt tax savings is and immediate cash savings.

OK, agricultural exemptions are the target.

The target is keeping the agricultural tax status. The guy that ran the family cow/calf operation owns 1/3 of the land but since he ran cows on the whole place we all benefit. And a income in the future of course.

OK, ag tax status, and ag exemptions are the same thing. Got it.
