US trials .45 Lugar
« on: March 10, 2004, 07:32:51 AM »
'Just watched the latest NRA video "Million Dollar Guns".  Lugar submitted two .45 Cal. pistols for US trials numbered 1 and 2, and there were no others made.  The No. 2 has commanded the highest price ever paid for a Lugar, but the No. 1 has never been found!  Speculation is that it was so damaged during tests that it was simply thrown away!   Wouldn't THAT be a nice find!

Couple of years ago Guns and Ammo ran an article on their test of the remaining pistol.  They actually got to fire it.  Interesting article, but I don't know the reference.

There was a custom smith handbuilding repoes at one time. Seems to me that his were made of stainless and his name was Martz or something similar. His were relative bargains at roughly the price of a new Corvette.
It is the duty of the good citizen to love his country and hate his gubmint.

Ever see Mr. Luger's personal handgun?
It too was one of a kind. short barrel, short
grip frame, reduced capacity. Kinda' like
a "BABY" Luger. I don't know if it has ever been
to auction but I'll bet it would take a pretty penny
to become the owner of that one!
