Remington lever action
« on: March 10, 2004, 02:30:22 AM »
Picked up a Remington model 76 levered .22 on a spur of the moment purchase.  Other than the basic stuff in a gun values book, can anyone give me any other details?  Seems to function and shoot well, and is in excellent shape for 40+ years old.

It is just your standard Nylon 66 with a lever on it. Nice enough gun if you are a lever fan and still want all the positives and negatives or the Remington nylon guns. The lever, pump and bolt versions never really went over very well like the semiauto did so were made in far lesser quantiites but still they carry little to no collector interest that I'm aware of.

The non 66 nylon Remingtons are getting very collectable.  I have seen some of them bring over 500.00.  The single shot smooth bore is rare and the lever action 76 seems to be one of them in demand.  One of the 76's recently brought 550.00 over on GunBroker.

Yea, the 76 is quite in demand in certain circles. I wouldn't sell it unless you absolutely need to. Depending on the condition, they sell from three, to the high hundreds. I'm not too sure how many they made but there is a gun shop in my area that has his personal Remington collection featured in Remington's own hard back book. This guy has what Remington didn't even know they made. Email him about it and he'll gladly give you some info. I deal with him often. www.taylorstradingpost.com

Thanks for the info guys.  I tried taylorstradingpost.com but part of it kept jumping to another website.  The gunbroker.com info was very useful to this newbie.  Thanks again.

You have to Email Scott and he'll answer your questions about Remingtons. Like I said, when Remington made their big hardback book in green and gold, they used this guy's collection to feature in articles. He knows Remingtons inside and out.
