Our local radio station employed a DJ that had worked in Nashville for quite some time and referred to George as the burrhead from Beaumont" as he once wore a burr haircut.  The DJ is long gone and now our radio station is to. The owner died but his relatives left it going until the manager decided to retire as she was in her 70's. Another station bought the call sign but the owners declined to sell the license so it is no more. None of the other area stations play music fit to listen to IMO so I use S/XM now.

hen I lived in the Beaumont area in Texas, I owned a home outside Vidor on highway 1131..  George had a place up the road a piece, called "Flit N Fly Ranch".
As I recall he had a statue of a horse out front and I believe Flit-N-Fly, was that horse's name.

I never did meet George around there, but his brother was my barber..
