over sized Black Hawk grips
« on: March 07, 2004, 04:18:25 AM »
I have a new model Ruger Black Hawk in 45 Colt. I can not locate OVERSIZED grips for it. I have a large hand and the stock grips as well as the replacements I have seen are all the same size...to short.
years ago i had a set of large target grips on an original 357 Black Hawk, they were in Zebra wood and had a thumb rest on them. I THINK they were made by Jay Scott .
 Thanx 140OB

pachmyre(sp) composite rubber grips are on the Blackhawk I have . Makes a big difference for me. The little wood grips that came with the revolver were too small and short for me. The wood grips look pretty tho. Don't know if they are still in business?

I've got these grips on the way. Have some similar to these on a Super B/H and love them.

Pachmeyer's with the finger grooves are on my blackhawk 45's. Houge's made the same way on SBH. Or that may be vice versa. They don't look as pretty as stock grips but they sure are more comfortable to shoot with the heavier loads. For me.

I bought Ravenwolf's set. He was right they are sweet! And he is an honest man, after he had my MO he sent a note along with them that read,"....if they do not fit send them back...."
I have them mounted and once again proved that shooters are a decent bunch of guys!. 140OB

Thanks PASlugger,  These grips look great.  As soon as I can find out what year my 3screw Blackhawk was made, I will be ordering a set.  Mike

I have two Ruger 357 Blackhawks and both of them have oversized grips.  I got both sets from the following and they were very inexpensive and work fine.

I have found that I shoot much better with oversized, double action style, target grips in my Blackhawks.  Good luck

Herrets makes custom fit grips for a Blackhawk from a tracing of your hand. Pricey, but good. Michaels makes oversize rubber grips for blackhawks that I have used with satisfaction.

Deft Smith, they are Ivory Micarta (fake ivory)  don't have web page info for them.  Try using google search engine.  I've had these grips since the early 80's when I started shooting Cowboy Action events with my 45 Blackhawk with Super Blackhawk grip frame installed.  My problem is my short fingers just aren't long enough for the grips.  If you can't find them, contact me and we'll see if we can't work a deal.

Still have to find all my guns & stuff from the move!  Left Commifornia on the 16th of April and got here on the 23rd.  Just started unpacking!!!!
