should we get reparation money
« on: April 17, 2021, 04:52:45 AM »
from england for oppressing us so much that we had to flee to another continent? for suppressing our religious freedoms? For using us as slaves when we first settled here? I think any of us that can trace our ancestry to england should get a pay day!!  ;)

YES, I should get reparations for family and friends killed freezing the slaves. That included soldiers of both North and South since Only about 16% of the rebs families had slaves. CHARLIE.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Another good one. I have relitives (that if you believe the tainted history of the war) that died to free the slaves. They should be paying me!!! Funny thing is after they were freed there didnt seem to be a run on ships to bring them back to africa! Ive said it before. Im all for reperation and paying them for there suffering. Heck even the ones today thats grandparents werent alive during slavery. We should set up an account at American Air lines and give anyone that wants it a free ride back home. We could even hand out loin cloths and nose bones for the ride over. Whites werent to smart back then. They paid MAJOR money to import slaves from africa. All they had to do is tell them we had free food for them and room and board and they would have had a stream of free mexicans flooding the country. All they would have had to do is find a way to round them up!

Less than 5% of Southerners owned slaves.

The first person in my family tree on these shores came here as an indentured servant.
And a cousin died down at Andersonville Ga. (starvation, disease) as a POW during the civil war.
So at least my Ramey cousins should get reparations.
And I should get it because I have two close friends who are black.  Plus, I held the door open for a black lady the other day at QT.

.
Clearly, southern families who owned slaves were very few in number.  Slaves were a very costly commodity, and big plantation owners were few.
Most estimates are very low concerning slave ownership, usually in single digits.

A question that seems timely..  There are many who are of mixed heritage, just like the large number of people who claim to be descended from the relationship between Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemmings.

How would such reparations be decided?  Would they get their "reparations" from each other, or would each pay themselves.

Then there are the cases where family history is clear..none ever bought, sold, traded or had anything to do with slavery, but did furnish soldiers who fought to free same!  Do those family member pay or receive reparations?

How about the millions of "people of color' who arrived here during the last 1.5+ centuries..since slavery was abolished?  Do they just automatically benefit a windfall?

Then of course, from 1787, when the constitution was signed for a new nation, until the slaves were freed in 1865..the United States held slaves for a total of 78 years.  Thus from 1619 Jamestown to 1787, slaves were held by English subjects..168 years...
So if such silliness prevails, what are the chances that we will get 2/3 of the cost from the queen?

The latest non-cash reparations scheme proposed by the communists is 'weighted voting'. This is when a black vote counts 3 times a white vote, and a hispanic vote counts 1.5 times a white vote. Can't make this stuff up. Now there's a version of this in Maine called 'ranked choice voting'. Don't ask me to explain it, but it seems to be a zystsm where the socialist always win.

Which PROVES that this move by Democ-rats is not to help descendants of slaves, but to grab power for themselves !

My county has been using that system for years  TO  elect county commissioners . It called cumulative voting . A voter gets 7 votes , he can cast all 7 for one candidate or  cast 1 for  each 7 candidates or any combination in between .   The  system  was put in place because the county has a very low black population  and blacks  had no chance of getting a seat  .   This was adopted in 1988 as part of a settlement of a lawsuit  brought against the previous election system by African Americans .

That is, assuming that Black people only vote for black candidates....or that others will only vote for those of their own ethnicity.  A rather juvenile way of looking at it, don't you think?

So, if everybody gets 7 votes each, won't they vote the same way?

I should hope it is not only people of one group getting 7 votes, while the rest only get one each.  If that were the case, it is surely a most prejudiced and racist way of operating.

Blacks make up 9 percent of the county population . There was never a Black commissioner  until the county was forced to adopt  that system as settlement from the lawsuit  in 1988 .   As far as  prejudiced ,dont forget I'm  in the deep south . Change is slow ,in large part people still vote their color .  on your last ? They are 7 candidate seats ,so they are voting to fill all 7 seats , a voter can allot  their 7 ballots  as they  please .  Most of believe One man one vote .
