TAURUS 44 mag Tracker?
« on: March 05, 2004, 01:58:50 AM »
Taurus has anounced that they will be putting out a Steel framed 44 mag 5 shot tracker.
The trackers I believe are an L framed gun with ports...
No barrel lengths anounced but the Picture shows a 4 inch, I figure this baby would make a very nice little trail gun...
Any opinions...

The "L" frame is a S&W gun NOT a Taurus gun so the designation is not correct or proper in this context.

The quality of the current crop of Taurus revolvers sure seems to be spotty. My advice is to not commit your money before having a chance to examine the gun and check it over for problems. Customer service seems to be about as spotty as quality of late also.

If you get a good one it really is a nice gun. But when you get one that isn't right well I hope you have a LOT of patience and wish you a lot of luck, you'll need it.

Since they are also showing a version made in Ti I'd expect to see both steel and Ti versions in both 4" and 6.5" barrel lengths.

44 mag seems a bit much in this small a revolver.  I am still hoping for a six or six and a half inch barrel on the 41 Mag version.

I realize that the j,k,l,n are smith sizes...I used it because most people know how big a smith frame is...sorry if it confused anyone...
On taurus...um,
Ruger, Always
Smith, sometimes,
Taurus, possibly...
But I'd never buy a gun when it first comes out...I have heard of too many issues...I normally would wait a year for the bugs to be shaken out...

I'd like to try a BFR in 454 or 45-70...but with a bun in the oven my new toys must be few and cheaper than 800
