Crappie are biting
« on: March 16, 2021, 05:21:55 AM »
Looks like the crappie spawn is starting here in the Hill Country. Caught a couple of decent ones yesterday in 5' of water. Not sure why the pics rotated that way.

Spring has sprung.
Those pictures gave me the fever.

Man I'm jealous. State mandated ice shack removal was yesterday here in WI. You had better had them off before then this year. A little open water next to shore on some lakes and yesterdays snow will put an end to most hard water fishing. Our fishing opener is the first weekend in May so we should have open water. There has been years you couldn't launch your boat opening day because the landings were iced in. Hard water fishing and my fly rod don't mix, come on spring!

Every thing still frozen up here, including little ponds and sloughs.
Ground is snow covered.

Yeah,  it's time.
I haven't gone myself.
My tub needs 2 new batteries, and
all the good spots I used to bank fish
and do so well are now inaccessible
and closed off to the public. I can
remember one spot me and my fishing
and hunting bud limited and filled a
wire basket to where you couldn't put
another fish in it.
The stupid cormorants have taken over
one of our better spots.
Need to be able to empty a 12 gauge
into a flock of them,  but that'd be a
trip to the gray bar
Let's go Brandon  !

Caught some nice ones here years back. I have a small jon boat but haven't rigged it back out and hit the water yet so fishing from the shore is good for now.

Everything is still frozen here in NH. I'm looking forward to open water. Crappie are always fun and tasty. Where I grew up Crappie were known as "Calico bass".

Thanks, and yes it's the same truck. I bought it from my wife's grandfather in 1989. It's completely original down to the oil bath air breather, 352 V8, 3 on the tree and manual brakes and steering. It was my daily driver for quite a few years and now Ol Blue has been retired for roaming around the lake, fishing and trips to town to the hardware store.

That's just too cool. That period correct camper top really makes it. I appreciate the original survivors much more than restored vehicles

Love the old truck and that’s a nice mess of fish.
