I'm not a part of that generation, I'm older born in 1945. As a child I had few if any of those things mentioned. I wasn't raised in a town either so didn't play on the streets.

I think it was the hippie generation taking shape. Drugs, sex, anti government. To some especially in liberal states like Minnesota, California and the rest a very anti American sentiment.
