March 1st, 1976 when the war began
« on: March 01, 2021, 09:44:55 AM »
My middle name is Grant, and 45 years ago today I married the love of my life who's middle name is Lee.

We haven't been fighting the civil war again, but it's been an exciting 45 years.

She's also my best friend, and beautiful inside and out.

It's good to hear of a marriage that worked out, those are getting few and far between these days with such high divorce rates. In my case I married one of the most dishonest women on the planet so there's a 99.9% chance I'll never get married again. I've been divorced for 10 years now, best 10 years of my adult life. It's just my 18 year old son and I living in my house in peace and quiet, life is good.

I was married the first for less than 10 years, divorced for 2, and caught this Tennessee Gal.
I was 32 and she was 19, so I raised her to suit myself. ;D

There's nothing wrong with going younger as we get older.

I was married 11 years the first time. Constant problems. I was married an eternity the second time, (although friends claimed it was less than 2 years).
Married 34 years this time, and I married way over my head.

Yep, when I married my first wife I was 21 and she was 15.  we had to go to Missouri because she was too young in Illinois.
And 12 years later I married another teenager.  :o ;D

Faye was 19 and I was 20 when we got married. Now 55 years later we're still together.

We hope to make it that far if our minds stay healthy.  :)

I believe that I married "up."

Miss Bev and I have been married for 38 years now. We met in high school and were married a few years later, she was 21 and I was 20. Fought like cats and dogs for a couple of years and when I asked my dad for advice on our bumps in the road he told me something that made a big impact and helped us come together.

"Quite simply it was that love is not infatuation which young kids have when they date, it is a decision you make each and every day of your life during good and bad times. It is sharing by walking together, standing resolute side by side during the hard times and celebrating with each other during the good."

I found that advice profound and insightful in light of the fact that his father died when he was less than two years old and he and his older brother were raised by a mother who never remarried.

Good stories Gentlemen. I have to wonder about my wife also. Met in high school when she was 16 and me 18. She is a marvelous person to put up with me and the Army for as long as she has. 21 years in the Army and never once a whimper from her. Last December made 50 years for us. Truly my better half and best friend.
