"There is a connection between Christianity and freedom. Yahweh has made His covenant people to be a free people. As Christianity declines in our culture, as it clearly is, so too will freedom. The decay is happening all around us.
As I think about freedom, I become aware that freedom is Yahweh’s intent for His own. Thus, Yahweh’s enemy – and all the minions and legions that bear allegiance to this enemy - hate freedom. The less Christian our America is, the less free our America will be. Oh, Americans will still worship. Human beings are never irreligious. Even atheists worship. The need to adore and venerate is imprinted upon the soul of all men, and thus all men will bow before a god or the God. And here is where the enemy of God comes in. He distorts. He disguises. He deceives. This – the ingrained need within man to worship – and the subsequent lies of God’s enemy – with whom a cosmic war is waged – is the foundation of modern leftist and progressive religions: feminism, environmentalism, humanism, post-modernism, the sexual and gender spectrums, intersectionality, social and racial justice, and globalism. All of these are false secular religions masquerading as something that can redeem mankind.
But false religions cannot redeem. They can only destroy. And it is destruction that is the intent of the cannibalistic enemy of God.
Those who worship this beast – knowingly or unknowingly – will participate – knowingly or unknowingly – in the attempted destruction of all that is good and decent and righteous. Many sincere and well-intended humans will be drawn toward the enemy masquerading as an angel of light. Let me share some words penned by Ed Vitagliano (Vice President of the American Family Association). “A state that becomes an idol – a false god – is not morally neutral. Not only does such a government often wage war against God’s people, but it often succeeds in drawing the affection of everyone else. In Revelation 13, the unmatched power of the beast turns the hearts of the people to himself as they declare, ‘Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?’… Revelation 13 portrays governmental power at the furthest end of corruption and abuse. It is the gold standard, if you will, of an evil state… America has clearly strayed onto that darker way. Christians must remain vigilant, pray for boldness to proclaim the truth, and actively work for righteousness while we have the opportunity to do so. If we fail to be faithful and obedient stewards of the freedoms we have been given, we might one day be facing a monstrous entity that is at war with truth. After a while, that monster will turn its hungry eyes to us.”
For God’s people, we may not be able to right this ship. That must not be our goal. Our goal must be to know truth and to walk in the light of the glory of God all the days of our lives, aware that He alone is capable of destroying the destroyer. With our eyes on Yahweh, the giver of life and the redeemer of souls, we press on.
We are free. The truth has made us so.
