T/C 375JDJ

Anyone have any experience with the 375JDJ??? I know it is a popular pistol length caliber but I was thinking of carbine length in my Encore.
Was interested in recoil, accuracy etc
Any help is appreciated--------

I think it is better suited for the Encore, it really pushes the limits in the Contender.  I think the 358 JDJ is even better for N.American game, however the 375 JDJ is (eroneously) the only Contender chambering accepted in Africa for hunting large game, even though the 358 JDJ has superior bullet performance and penetration.  So....what I would ask is....are you hunting in Africa?

I am looking into a 22-24 inch barrel for my Encore. I was just wondering if the recoil is managable without a brake-Those Encore frames are light. I am not familiar with this caliber.

GREAT cartridge can't say enough good about it , very , very acurate , easy to load for , mine is in a ssk 12''contender  with magnaport and I wouldn't want to shoot it with out the magna-port I'm not familiar with the carbines so I don't no how recoil would be in the longer bbl,JD suggests 270 hornadays for elk size game and up and 220 hornadays are a real deer stopper!!!!! I never heard that it was pushing the pressure limits in the contender , I don't think JD would have it out there if the pressures were a problem, also I see that the T/C custom shop is offering it now. I think it is the best  big caliber for the contender.hope this helps , just my opinion    Bruce

Anyone know if the T/C Custom shop barrel is offered in hte same rate of twist as SSK? would hope so, but we have saw this already in the  300 whisper.

I'm running a 20" SS on a contender frame.  I made a stock myself out of a highly figured piece of Maple.  I added some cast off and I think it has helped a great deal as the recoil of the rifle is away from your face although my hand sometime takes a little beating.  All up she is just under the 6 lbs. mark with a 4x leupold.
 
Recoil is stout, but I don't find it to be too punishing.  Have run as many as 40 rounds of the bench with no ill effects.  I can't stand breaks just because of the increased noice they provide.  I'm running 260gr. Accubonds close to 2400 fps and the 270gr. Hornady about 2300.  Both shoot about an inch at 100 and its a rifle that is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
