Meanwhile, back at the Y

Attendance is very low. Most anytime of day I can use any exercise machine I want. Been back about a month now. Not many snowbirds down yet. Just the resident northern retirees. And most of them are staying home still. Afraid of the COVID pandemic I guess.

I don’t know if the snowbirds are waiting until after the election or just staying up north this winter. But our resorts are sure complaining about the loss of revenue. Meanwhile back at the ranch, it’s hunting season. Got the game feeders going and shooting a few birds. My grandson is sure chomping at the big, he’s got the blood lust bad.

I bought a bow flex to go with my free weights so i wouldnt have to be around other people. Bought a cheap tread mill too so when winter comes or its raining outside i can still walk. Didnt much care for the yuppies that hung around the fitness center here anyway.

Well you would feel like old home week here in Lecanto at the Y.

One lady I met last year told me that the pastor where she was going to church asked if anyone there was a native floridan. One teenage boy raised his hand. He parents were from up north but he was born in Florida.

Very few Florida natives go back several generations like my family does. But having said that, if I could afford to live in Alaska on my retirement I would still be in Alaska.

I lived in Florida for almost a year back in '58. I was in 7th grade back then. I don't think I ever met anyone that claimed to be a Florida native.

Well Bill I was born here and my wife was born here & all 4 of our kids were born here. My mother and grandparents were too. My dad was born in Georgia but moved to Florida when he was nine years old.

The main problem as I see it is nobody wants to retire north of the mason dixon line. And with all the old northern folks moving in Florida is getting pretty full.

I can remember when Florida had no fence laws. We ran our cattle & hogs on open range. You could walk coast to coast and never cross a fence. But those days are long gone. There are still pockets of Old Florida left but you half to hunt them out.

well i'ii be the second . I was borne in st. Augustine fla. fed 4th, 1945. always been proud of it. my people all hard working church going people. my uncle Bubba served in second world war. battle of the bludge. he only talked to me about after I went in army 1968. very quite, strong, good man. just don't piss him off. all gone and dead now. greatest generation.
